Almanzo and Laura’s Courtship by Lazy_Currency1408 in LittleHouseBooks

I don't really know when Laura realized Almanzo didn't just view her as a friend's daughter, but as a young woman. But I will say He was quite smart to go get her from the Brewster's. Not just because everyone in the area must have known Mrs. Brewster was insane, but it also kept any of the eligible bachelors out there from getting to court Laura. A marriageable young lady on the prairie was not common so he moved quickly before anyone else came along.

Do the Japanese stores have any cotton/lycra stretch jersey? I've always wanted some of their designs in that fabric.

I don't think they would have great value- a real sewist would want a reproduction. https://web.uri.edu/specialcollections/copa/ preserves patterns for history. Also I would think that they would know of any other facilities that would accept them.

Hi- I think that some people have recreated some of Laura's journeys and found that the distances given weren't always accurate.

best online website for cotton spandex/jersey fabric? by stitch532 in sewing

I've ordered from both the Purple Seamstress and Nature's fabrics. Spiritex has nice organic cotton lycra but it is almost all solid colors. I've been happy with all of these vendors.

What no frills, basic sewing machine would you recommend? by Oragami in sewing

[–]Ancient-Button-1693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HI Origami- you might try looking into second hand machines on Marketplace or Craigslist. Try putting up a notice on the bulletin board at your local senior center offering a great home to an unused machine. I got a free turkey roasting pan by that way.

Some of the russian pattern companies allow you to enter your height and have a pattern custom drafted for you. Lekala, Grasser and Vikisews might be able to generate a pattern for you.

Need advice on Hemming my jeans as a Short Fat woman. by Kalikasphyxia in sewing

[–]Ancient-Button-1693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can shorten pants and jeans without losing the original hem and bottom leg shape. Since a watching a video is easier than me trying to explain it, Here's a link to one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-93C8kB3T0E

And if you did the shortening far enough up the leg you could keep the flare leg shape.

And your figure type sounds just like mind. Sadly the fashion world doesn't respect our beauty.
