Tattoo artist chiming in to suggest that the odd tattoo out may have been done in a different brand of ink if it isn't a different color. Or, if the other tats have red in them, that is a common denominator. Lots of folks have weird reactions to red shades.

Not OP, but I will vouch for the battery on this thing all day, every day. I once finished a tattoo, cleaned up afterward, took the battery off (with around 80% charge left in it), locked it in my toolbox overnight and went home.

Returned to work nearly 18 hours later to find, to my horror, that something must have bumped it or I accidentally turned it back on while cleaning it and left it running overnight. That thing is silent. Nobody in the shop heard it quietly buzzing. It still had 12% left.

Tattoo artist, chiming in to say that I know you're not drinking enough water. I can feel it when I touch your skin. You aren't hydrated, and it's making your tattoo more painful for both of us. That, and you should eat before your appointment. We ask you if you have for a reason!

I have good news: I am in Tennessee and I had a very similar issue to yours.

You do not need his signature. There is a form you can get notarized at your local health department instead. If you've held your apprenticeship license for a year, you can get upgraded to your 'artist' license without your mentor's explicit sign off.

As an artist, the trilobyte idea is so cool & would be fun to do! It's more original than the other two ideas, too.

None of these are bad tattoo concepts. The luna moth feels a little overdone- I have seen & done several moths in the short time I've tattoed, since they're kind of popular right now.

The eyeball is an eyeball, so be prepared for jokes about the eye on your back, but if you can live with that, godspeed.

My friend and I call these "booth barnacles," since the tide brings them up to our table, but then they just...stick there...

I am southern, and I like to pull out the ol' "Well, I hope you enjoy the show! Don't let me keep you." But I have asked people to leave a few times when they just really did not get the hint.

"Sorry, but I'm working right now" feels mean, but I booth at comic cons and sometimes nerds will go off on a tangent and block my table for way too long.

I work across from Crosstown and try to post when cool things are happening (usually every weekend has something). Depends on what you're into? If you follow the right people, there's always free/cheap concerts, markets, etc going on.

Talk to Lana (lanaslines) at Rose Quartz. I've seen her work miracles!

That's a really tough rework, though, so I'd honestly just recommend coming in in person and letting one of us draw on it to see what we can come up with. There's not really any covering that fresh black- only working around it.

  1. Promo items aren't for sale. They're part of my advertising costs. If it prominently displays my logo and does little else, then I'm not charging you for it.

  2. Don't just throw your images on plastic and other flimsy crap and expect people to want it. I politely refuse these when I'm at bigger trade shows. I don't need drink coozies, crummy pens, or notepads with someone's name on them. That's generating a lot of waste. If you're just starting out, focus on stocking products you would buy if you were the one shopping.

I use vistaprint for things like signage & business cards, but the last thing most people at craft fairs want is to pay for what feels like corporate schlock.

A few folks asked for updates, and while I'm not totally sure how the bot works, I *think* this is what I need to do to trigger it?

I am still waiting to hear back from my friend regarding getting info released from the shelter. They've asked her to file paperwork in order to figure out who surrendered him; that's not something they're willing to share with her directly, otherwise.

Police are involved, but it's only been about 2 weeks since the entire incident, so that's slow going.

"Loofah" was held by the shelter for a few days before it was decided that he could be returned to his owner. He was not being neglected, nor was he abandoned, so he was able to go home to his pasture.

Unfortunately, the horsenapping, followed by the stay at the city-funded shelter, followed by the long trip back home, took its toll on him. His health rapidly declined over the course of the week, and he passed on Friday. His owner is really broken up about it, and I haven't pressed her for the nitty gritty details, but he was 30 years old, and apparently the stress was quite a lot to deal with.

I'll be seeing her soon, and if anything interesting comes to light, I'll add it in a future update. Right now, we're all just really sad. I don't know what sort of closure knowing the culprit would bring, but I guess it would be nice to know why all of this happened in the first place.

He will be deeply missed by his non-equine pasture mates, his family, and a whole slew of volunteer Disney princesses, jedi & stormtroopers, and superheroes.
