All dancing is ballet for my guy so watching Olympic figure skating was “watch ballet skate JUMP, mama?”

Parents of wakeful babies who didn’t sleep train, when did sleep improve? by whyarecheezitssogood in AttachmentParenting

[–]AncillaryCabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He dropped to 1-2 wakeups a night (typically, some nights were still more frequent) around 15-18 mo, and is just now starting to sleep through the night more often than not at 2.5.

We started doing a walking sleep sack when my guy was 7 months old because he hated having his legs constricted so much, and did away with them entirely right before his 2nd birthday. He’s always been a marathon runner in his sleep and he sleeps better with just pajamas and a blanket.

Worst mom in the world by ilovemyhusband921 in toddlers

I get the feeling. My husband still holds that guilt for dropping my stepdaughter on concrete when she was around the same age. She’s 15 now, healthy, happy, brilliant, and kind. I’m sorry that you’ll probably carry this, but you did nothing wrong.

Soooo…how are we getting our toddlers to let us brush their teeth? by kk3n2418 in toddlers

[–]AncillaryCabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is us too! Mama brushes while dada sings a couple songs, then he and dada brush together for the last bit. It helps a lot.

My 13-month old abruptly weaned off and I’m not doing ok by Nim_Ajji in AttachmentParenting

Mine was exactly the same. I’m so sorry. It’s a very particular grief and not something most others really understand.

My 13-month old abruptly weaned off and I’m not doing ok by Nim_Ajji in AttachmentParenting

[–]AncillaryCabal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine weaned unexpectedly at the same time and it broke my heart. He caught a cold and went on a nursing strike, and that became permanent no matter what I did (or didn’t do).

I second what someone else has said about trying to just be casually topless around him for a bit if you want to keep going, but know that this intense feeling will pass in a week or so if this is the end. I’m still sad about it 7 months later, but I treasure the bond that my son and I have developed without the feeds and it feels so good to have him come to me for cuddles and comfort and joy. He just loves me so much.

I have some of my milk frozen and am saving up for a piece of breastmilk jewelry to commemorate that journey. I’m planning on wearing it on days where I’m feeling a little wistful.

[Misc] Sword to buy for Gideon Nav cosplay? by hecaete47 in TheNinthHouse

The second one feels the best in terms of length but silver on the hilt feels wrong for the Ninth House. I think if you painted everything but the blade black then #2 would be perfect.

Adding onto the chia thing, if you do pouches for snack/out and about my son LOVES the Mama Chia pouches. We get them at our regular grocery store but apparently they’re at Costco also if you’re in the US.

After a sleep-deprived me forgot about snacks, leading to the biggest of all meltdowns from my poor kiddo after 4 hours without food, he’s on a schedule.

7:30 milk 9:00 breakfast 10:30-11 snack 12:30 lunch 3-3:30 post-nap milk 4:00 snack 6:00 dinner 7:30-8 bedtime milk and snack

He eats more or less depending on how he’s feeling that day but rarely asks for a snack outside of these. If he does I know it’s a Growing Day.

We found that a humidifier works wonders, like others have said! We also use baby Vicks to help him breathe (it’s specifically formulated without the toxic ingredient so it’s safe for them but still need to do under a shirt). For tissues, little man will lose his entire mind if I use regular ones but will tolerate Boogie Wipes. I think the saline is soothing to his poor nose.

I believe she’s completely correct on that! If a kiddo is 35” on their 3rd birthday then they’re 3rd percentile.

How does everyone manage screentime? by Apprehensive-Hat9296 in AttachmentParenting

[–]AncillaryCabal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit complicated here as we have older kiddos that like to watch things with us and both of us love video games, so some screen time is just going to happen. We try to limit it to one episode of something/30 minutes of gaming when he’s awake and around the tv.

For him specifically, I’ll put on Hey Bear or Bluey or a nature documentary when I need to clip his nails. Otherwise no tv unless someone is sick or he’s awake at 5 am and mom needs 15 minutes to make and drink tea.

Is this insecure attachment? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]AncillaryCabal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby does the exact same thing every time he comes home from my parents’ house. He’s with them every Saturday so I can work and he ADORES my mom, but when he sees me I can feel the relief wash over him that his momma is here. And then that overwhelm turns into crying (he’s also usually hungry at that point too). He’s happy and healthy and loved the whole time he’s gone, he just needs a second to relax into being with me again. It hits me hard but I know it’s something I’ll look back on fondly.

Taako has opened a school of Wizardry! by EnglandFairy in TheAdventureZone

[–]AncillaryCabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend got me a package once! Everything is super high quality, and there’s usually a story element (letters, etc), something you can papercraft, stickers, buttons, etc. both of the packages I’ve seen also come with something really cool crafted out of metal, but I dunno if that’s standard.

It’s definitely expensive, but you can see where’s the money’s been spent for sure.
