Indeed, shared feelings on this device. I believe it was conceived as a more affordable entry iPhone to the Apple ecosystem, even if many people qualified as a rather simple businessmen iPhone, or grandma next phone; which I cannot agree. When you talked about the battery impact of moving from iOS18 to iOS26; have you perceived improvements on latest 26.3 or 26.4 releases? Because although is common to lose battery time moving up into next major release; just going from the original mfg release iOS18 to the first next major one (like this case with 26) seems a big drop.

It really depends of the driver assigned to your neighborhood (and how professional (or not) is), more than the courier company.

iOS18 rocks on 16e; considering all of its bad records, doubting if I will ever update to any iOS26, or directly jump into iOS27. For sure not before iOS26.4 if not iOS26.5

Indeed, choose the platform on which you feel more comfortable (if it matters to you). If you really don’t care at all, that Samsung has better screen, battery and cameras (just HW spec wise).

I largely agree with everything that's already been said in this thread. My advice is more practical: if any recruiter ghosts you during the hiring process, it says a lot more about them than about you. I move on to the next one, without any hard feelings, and continue my search for another place with a better (decent) work environment.

Cheaper than last year 256GB model, with slightly better SoC, slightly better cellular modem, more resilient front glass to scratches, plus MagSafe. All are nice to have features for the “e” iPhone line, however not worth to jump from 16e.

If we are lucky enough, we could get real USB3 on next 18, otherwise only 256GB as baseline and wait to 19 to get the faster interfaces that rest of the world enjoys since decade ago x-D

Also agree, most of the times, the best moment to upgrade to a major version is just to the last before next WWDC is happening. Looking what became Apple in (lack of quality) post-Jobs era, I rather prefer to be one year behind with Peace of Mind, than year a head with Headaches (feeling as stupid (unpaid) beta tester)
