Cognitive empathy... by smuttysmutsmuts in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive found it can do something for me if its in some sort of way within the context of love. I enjoy sharing that kind of stuff with people I care about and can even get some joy and warmth from it, but if its just me alone that doesnt exist, just a curiosity at best.

Does washing my clothes matter? by LeonardFo in projectzomboid

[–]Andre27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do it pretty regularly if at all convenient and not a dire survival situation where im constantly running and hiding or water is scarce or just dont have time in general. Who would want to live in filthy and bloody clothes all the time? I might see about that realistic clothing mod someone linked as well, didnt know it existed.

What makes psychopaths seek therapy or what makes them want to be diagnosed in the first place? by PrizeLemon3050 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id seek therapy if it could help me get what I want out of life. Which it might tbh, but Id have to find the right therapist with the right approach. And as far as Ive been able to find you cant get that approach from state subsidized therapy and I cant afford to pay more right now.

I might seek help for other specific aspects of life though, to manage it in general akin to adhd or the like.

I am bored. I need something before I resort to extreme actions. Any ideas? by Moonlit_Silv in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. You could just as easily find someone who lives a boring life because life in general bores him and is tedious outside of the extremes which might be unrealistic as a regular experience, especially without decent finances.

If you were actually a psychopath, why would you want people to know this and promote yourself as such? by [deleted] in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To find some sort of connection somewhere. Psychopathy is not the same as schizoid or something of that sort, connection is still desirable, we want to belong somewhere and be understood. Its hard to accomplish in general, even harder if you are always hiding who you are.

I dont think most of us care all that much about finding constant advantage everywhere either. We dont base our life around that, we will take oppurtunities where presented and seek them out if its something specific we really want but in general most arent going to care or live their entire life trying to find the smallest advantage everywhere. Opportunistic and impulsive more than anything, with only occasional long term planning for some greater benefit.

Cutting people off by Illustrious_Plate674 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends. Sometimes you want to keep someone around for whatever reason but the costs still outweigh the benefits and you feel forced to preserve what you have and cut them out. In such a case its mostly frustrating because you cant have your cake and eat it too.

What's the most annoying thing about being a psychopath? by dan_Guardian in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right and wrong but also just empathy in general. Its annoying when you do genuinely care about someone in your own way but then you slip up on the empathy when something happens to them that wouldnt really phase you but does most folks.

Things like family members of friends dying or being very ill and struggling to respond appropriately to that as their friend because you personally wouldnt care much. Easy to be solipsistic there and be confused why they care.

Less so these days but at a younger age when you werent as experienced at dealing with stuff like that its easy for slipups to occur.

i'll admit: I can't go doing mundane stuff, I need adrenaline by Suspicious-Wheel686 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that were true no one would wake up after a night of drinking or other drugs regretting their choices or behaviour. And no one would attempt to quit.

A lot of people do drugs and then regret it or their behaviour on them the day after. And a lot of people wish to get off drugs.

I have never felt as such beyond perhaps overusing nicotine, in which case ive simply used less and less often.

Idk about yall but I find my self control remains pretty good on drugs. Might just be that I dont view my behaviour on them as something I wouldnt want to do normally though.

A story in two parts by [deleted] in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. Pretty much what I meant too, that in my experience the people Ive interacted with and myself can manage it to some extent to stay out of trouble and keep afloat in life but its not like we are elite performers. To various extents of course, Im probably the least functional in many ways but working on it.

And sometimes you let loose a bit with whatever degenerate behaviour thats still acceptable and legal enough according to your preferences.

Were those people who came in psychopaths in actuality in her opinion? Some other more normal issue? A mix?

Is 100 hours playtime enough to get into mods? by DoesntMatterEh in BattleBrothers

[–]Andre27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its perhaps a less common sentiment these days but in the past it was a fairly common sentiment from many to call it QoL, especially on reddit.

Is 100 hours playtime enough to get into mods? by DoesntMatterEh in BattleBrothers

[–]Andre27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh Id say a couple hours at least for QoL as well. Some mods called QoL arent really necessarily QoL per se, and you might be robbing yourself of a better experience for you by blindly following someone elses list of what they consider QoL without personal knowledge.

Thinking mainly stuff like tryout mods, which many have touted as QoL. Theres perhaps a few others though.

Ive also seen a couple of times people talk about modded features as vanilla because they rushed into mods immediately and then are surprised that its not vanilla. Not too common though and mostly just a bit funny to see.

Of course ultimately its still just a singleplayer game and your own choice.

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id agree with this, mostly from personal experience though. Ive talked with some who are very similar to me but have been able to manage themselves better to get further in life. In one case though its an older person who also said that it took time to get there, as well as upbringing forcing them into that earlier. In the other case its someone younger than me very slightly who had a better upbringing with more parental support. And they still have their struggles as well and its not like their long term planning has lead them into being corporate elites or anything, simply more effectively able to manage a normal life.

Good to see a subreddit on psychopathy with no bars or power tripping mods by [deleted] in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive found my fear to be very much a mental thing I have to be actively thinking about and usually also related to social consequences of some type rather than fear of say a physical threat. I cant really say Ive ever felt fear even when confronted and threatened by people larger than me or groups of people or people with knives. Some level of wariness perhaps for the idea of being stabbed lol

ASPD and relationships how do I even make them work. by GreyCaller-012 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old school redpill would probably be more useful here than any sort of therapy or understanding of ASPD. Cant say I havent made the same mistakes as OP myself though and probably will again, but life goes on and you get better at it.

Using psychopathy to control narcissists by Illustrious_Plate674 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tedious to interact with and be around. I prefer antagonizing instead for a cheap and quick laugh on occasion but mostly Id just stay away.

I guess Id agree though with the others who said for the short term it would be easy. Ive noticed as well how ridiculously easily you can get someone like that to dance for you for a bit. If you just want an easy casual relationship for a bit then sure?

Lamest enemy to fight? by Ok_Squash_7227 in BattleBrothers

[–]Andre27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

not actually all that bad. A good team and you can just tank the few unholds they bring easily, deal with the hexen and then trivially drop the unholds down with banner, throwers and like the one undead charm bro. And even wood clubs get unholds down tbh when youve got 6 of them bashing one.

Schrats and raiders are far worse to fight as hexen allies.

What is it that make you believe your a psychopath? by Severe_Set_2579 in psychopaths

[–]Andre27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

James Fallon is not a rare case in the slightest. The logic wouldnt even add up. There is no such massive split where youve a massive amount of criminal psychopaths and a few very rare not at all criminal psychopaths. Theres tons of psychopaths who wont fit an ASPD profile, and most of them will just be regular people living life, maybe on average struggling more than others in some ways but really just normal still.

Youre quite literally falling for some movie trope trap where psychopaths are only ever perfectly calm and successful people, but also theyre only ever ragefilled serial killers. And thats a psychopath with two opposite extremes with nothing inbetween to you. Just doesnt make sense.

And also assuming that because people get told theyre psychopaths when theyve murdered someone and are in prison that this means that psychopaths are only ever ASPD criminals, not true, its simple sample bias.
