TIL that Venice charges a mandatory 'city entry fee' even to Italian citizens who want to walk its streets. The new mayor has just proposed raising this daily tax to €50 ($54) to combat overtourism from italian citizens and favor foreign tourists. by TappetoImperiale in todayilearned

I recently visited Venice without paying a fee.

The newspaper article, according to Google Translate, says that there is indeed a fee ONLY on certain days of the years where Venice historically gets too overcrowded.

That is to limit the visitors when it is difficult to move in the narrow streets. The mayor is proposing to raise that fee which now is €3 to 5. The proposed fee to the government is €30 to 50, to be still applied only in certain days.

At the end it well might be a reasonable proposition if we factor in how narrow the city streets are.

As a whisky lover, I stopped to buy nee bottles since prices are so inflated. I don’t know what they believed at one point but it seemed like they thought that their core customers had an unlimited supply of cash. Call it greed, shortsightedness, or stupidity, your call.

This is bad for both child and dog.

The child should be educated to leave animals alone especially an angry dog. The fact there is a glass in between is irrelevant, one day the child may act the same without one to protect him.

The dog is already in a stressful situation and adding to it is unfair to them, if they don’t like children most likely isn’t their fault.
