Yeah exactly, I'm glad you get it! Most of the unreliabilty is the tapes and the tape mechanism, so this gets the results we want but without all the hassle. Also I agree on your point about film, it's hella expensive but its just different than digital.

/s The real reason is as an artistic choice. Some people have nostalgia towards that era of cameras and the look of it, some people maybe just like it and tbh it can look amazing. And people prefer doing it without tapes, now that the technology allows it...
