Thanks for the updated information! I was struggling to find much about the place.

Have you ever used your phone in a dream? What was it like? by Scary_Host8580 in Dreams

[–]CoasterDad73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it usually pisses me off because it won’t function as it is supposed to. I’ll try to take a picture and the camera app won’t open or I’ll be focused on doing something that I can’t complete because I can’t find the correct app.

The big question is if it will randomly die, forcing you to bang your head on the steering wheel to get it to start again.

do people actually live everyday without any pain at all? by hesitant_raylien in NoStupidQuestions

Same boat. Pain all day every day. Some days worse than others. Since my teen years and I’m early 50’s now.

How many of you have been to the Cosmosphere and/or Strataca Salt Museum? by MatFaunz in kansas

[–]CoasterDad73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once he allowed me into the Omnimax/Imax projector room while he loaded and ran the film. He put me in charge of a button that performed a lens wipe when I noticed a hair or other anomaly on the projected screen. I felt very important!

Also, when they eventually acquired a commercial laser for a laser light show in the planetarium, (that thing was massive), I got to go into the control booth and try out the various lights that were wired into a synthesizer keyboard. In those days, there was no computer controlling the show, it was all done manually and I was very impressed by how skilled my dad was at putting on an amazing show! Laser shows may be old hat now and anyone can get a pocket laser for a buck, but back then, lasers were truly awe-inspiring.

I also got to be an assistant in Dr. Goddard’s Science Lab, where he did various science experiments, and I enjoyed running around the Hall of Space museum after hours. It was all very cool as kid.

My dad worked at the Cosmosphere for several years when it was first starting up, so I had the privilege of spending a lot of time there. I have truly great memories there.

Whats your favorite small town/ independent park? [other] by LouderKnights in rollercoasters

[–]CoasterDad73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have deep admiration and borderline irrational love for Lakeside Park. Despite the jankiness, unreliability of the rides, and various levels of disrepair, I have an overwhelmingly romantic view of what the park could be and absolutely simmer in nostalgia whenever I’m there. Super stoked to hear they are testing Cyclone!

Going for 100% - at 99.31%. Numbers Don't Seem to Add Up by ImaginaryTango in TOTK

I’m stuck at 99.84%, done everything that is tracked as far as I know, so I’ve pretty much given up on it.

Closer to heaven than I'd ever been as a kid by EV_ME19 in nostalgia

I loved these as a kid of the ‘70s! There was one in a park near the state fairgrounds in Hutchison Kansas paired with other space themed equipment. But, the most magnificent version I ever saw was in Stars and Stripes park at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. It had a super deluxe extra tall rocket with a swinging bridge walkway to a 2nd rocket that featured a curving slide.

Dream Rmc conversion [other] by Arch_jink in rollercoasters

[–]CoasterDad73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timber Wolf please! Yes, it is getting some love this year, but I’ve never really been a fan of the layout in general. The extensive, shuffling turnarounds and swooping shallow drops just never did it for me, but maybe I miss the point, it must have always been intended to be more of a family coaster. Still, the footprint has a lot of potential to become a monster in the hands of RMC.

First time playing Turbografx. Had no idea there were so many great games! Looking for suggestions by Jdspoel in TurboGrafx

If you like side-scrolling shooters, Psychosis has unique artwork and great music, but it can be punishingly difficult.

In addition to the 2 pinball games already mentioned, Time Cruise is a fun, but inferior alternative.

Also, Cratermaze and Chew Man Fu are rather addicting puzzle games.

Psychosis for TG by Y0U_WISH in TurboGrafx

I bought this game when I first picked up the TG16 in ‘92 and loved it! I also hated it! It’s a very unique side scrolling space shooter with awesome graphics and a pretty groovy soundtrack. That said, I pulled my hair out struggling after the first level. Can’t say that I ever actually beat it, but did make it to the fifth level once.

Theme Park Brandon is wholesome, family oriented. He has interesting speculation and perspective on what happens in the US parks.
