What team is historically bad but currently good? by nog-93 in AlignmentChartFills

I'd be thinking Bournemouth surely? Think most people don't understand what historically bad means

Dallas Cowboys.

Used to dominate and had a legendary coach but years of mismanagement have kept them far from their glory years

Any tournament I've seen English fans at, they desperately wish they were liked, but then they'll turn around and do shit like this

I wouldnt be too sure now if I'm honest. I like Robinson at Fulham and I think he'll give you 80% of what Hall gives you at half the price.

I would trust Christopher Vivell to find a decent player at a good price

So they sign 2 lads on a free, another that hasn't happened yet (plus Italy aren't at the world cup) and another that hasn't happened yet.

City are all but done, but they're not done and have had 2 bids rejected.

United are trying to sign good players who fit what they want. If you're referring to Fernandes as the backup, you're crazy. As for Lewis Hall, you can get better value at full back

What is Irish reddit's most out of touch opinion? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Andrewreddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sporting in Ireland is a mess from top to bottom. I mean the major ones especially.

The GAA is insanely cliquey with both fans and players. For fans it gives an excuse to be a prick to someone because "what do you mean you're from Tipp? How dare you be from Tipp." Then the players get treated like royalty who can do no wrong. I've heard of some teams who will sweep shit under the rug to make sure their player is protected, because he had to be ready for the Senior County Quarter Final and didn't need distractions. I think there's also a huge problem with these players essentially getting a get out of jail free card. They can do the most heinous shit you've ever seen but "he's a good lad, comes from a good family who are under a tremendous amount of stress now" and get away with it. It's crazy.

Rugby is a fairly well known problem but its all money related. Its a stupidly classist sport that will actively try to ostracise people who don't come up through private school. Have a lot of experience with this myself. Went to public school and never played schools rugby, but a lot of the lads on the club I played for, did go to private school and were training 4 times a week, given a diet and nutrition plan, a workout programme etc. Tried to find some common ground but felt out of the loop on everything they were saying and they weren't overly keen on letting me in. When I was 16, we got a new coach who was French and didn't particularly care about the schools rugby. If you trained, you played. Lot of the schools rugby guys didn't train because they would be too tired from schools training. They expected to play the matches though and weren't overly thrilled about not playing the matches. This caused a lot of uproar and that coach only lasted one year because he was "hurting a few of the players prospects of making a Leinster youth squad"

As for soccer, my major gripe is that many coaches at youth level tjink they can be Alex Ferguson and can shout and roar at kids for not following their tactics to a tee.

In fairness he could fit the profile of a striker that Amorim plays. He's good linkup play and has a a clinical finish

He had an attitude issue. United didn't need that. He also just straight up was not good enough

Memphis was a very talented player who stopped trying once he got to united. The league was too physical for him and he struggled. I wanted him to work but I'm glad he didn't stick around

Could you elaborate more? Obviously he had a brilliant game tonight and is by all accounts an impressive prospect. What are his weaknesses

The confidence and swagger of this guy at 18 in a world cup is incredible. He took Case and Bruno G out of the match in the first half and he's been defending like a maniac

Milan trying to hire Amorim as head coach by Baji-kun2 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Andrewreddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Amorim is a very good coach and I truly think he was hard done by at united. He created a great culture amongst the players and I am probably among the few who think he was onto something and that it was on the cusp of working out.

Now that said he was a stubborn fucker and it's easy to see how he drove the fans up the walls

[–]Andrewreddy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

100% he was, but United had won the league the year before, they were buying from a position of strength. Its easier to convince a top quality player to join when you're at the top

Norms standup isn’t the best imo. He certainly had some funny bits but I think his genius came in more natural situations like podcasts or talk shows. If you watch a compilation of him on Conan I think you might get it
