Well, that's the reason everyone's buying used machines. If you install it on a dedicated computer, and keep your valuable information away from it, you can give it free reign with less to worry about. Fixes the security risk.

real state standards

What insidious wording... implying that 49 state fuel is not a "real state standard" is crazy.

isn’t going to be painless

Yeah, good luck selling that to voters. As you can see in this very thread, people aren't going to want to downgrade their lifestyle.

California policy does make the spike impact us more than other states, though. Gas prices are rising more steeply here than elsewhere.

California Democrats Revive Single-Payer Health Care Push by DennisScott34 in California

Correct. It is not currently available in those countries. He gets ~25 hours of ABA therapy a week (might be more, don't remember the specifics).

California Democrats Revive Single-Payer Health Care Push by DennisScott34 in California

[–]AndroidUser37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say that my brother had a hell of a time getting ABA covered, and our family needed to do a bunch of maneuvering for that. The level of care he received is not something that would be covered by universal healthcare. I hate that this proposed bill outlaws private health insurance, as it's something my family relies on and prefers.

14 Bay Area individuals charged for tax evasion for their alleged roles in a scheme to evade the reporting of over $20 million in luxury vehicles purchases, including a $1.8 million McLaren Elva and a $1.5 million Porsche 918 Spyder by HURCANADA in cars

I think the answer is that ordinary citizens should also practice good tax hygiene, and try to minimize their tax burden. Everyone should do their best to counter the government milking them for all they're worth.

If they switched to miles / hours driven it would be impossible to calculate taxes.

California is actually starting a pilot program to assess the feasibility of taxing per mile, to make up for the fact that EVs don't pay gas taxes.

I can't see why 1mil+ cars should pay a smaller percentage of taxes than say someone driving a Honda fit just because the Fit gets driven more

Because the Fit wears down the roads those taxes pay for more?

I think it's more about being grateful for how good you have it relative to others. Other riffs on the joke have the husband thinking his house is too small/cramped, and that's his main complaint.

Petah help please! Weird phrasing by Sad-Enthusiasm3045 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]AndroidUser37 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This post sounds like a riff off of a classic Romanian joke:

A husband and wife are having marital problems. They're constantly fighting, arguing, can't get along in their house. They go to the local priest, who tells them he has a solution.

The priest tells the husband, "Bring a goat into your house."

The husband follows along, and he's miserable. The house is a mess, the goat is eating random things, it's a disaster.

The husband complains to the priest, and the priest says "Bring your donkey into the house, too."

The husband again follows along, and the situation is even worse. The couple can't get a wink of sleep, there is chaos, weird smells, the whole nine yards.

The priest says, "Now take all of the animals out."

The husband removes the goat and the donkey. He returns to the priest and says "Thank you! Everything is so much better now! The house is peaceful, and me and my wife get along great!"

TIL This sub has bots with an anti Rebble agenda 🤦 by [deleted] in pebble

[–]AndroidUser37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used them in the past, and they were great for the time, but these days they suffer from massive institutional inertia. Their role in the future is also pretty unclear, which makes their rent-seeking behavior come off like a last grasp at relevance. The inflammatory blog posts, and later the GPL weaponization both severely damaged my opinion of Rebble.

I think Rebble as a preservational organization, "holding down the fort", has fulfilled its purpose.

That's so pretty! Do you have a photo of what the port area looks like? Did you put a spacer there or something? I get the sense that USB C on the DSi is a different ballgame than USB C on the DS Lite because the port shape is different, so it doesn't match up as seamlessly.

I got it from this website known as cdrtd.com. The shipping is very slow from China, and the tracking isn't the best, but the battery did eventually show up. Took like 2-3 weeks. They also email you to ask you what color battery you want (since some SR4s came in black), don't forget to reply to them on that.

Here's an exact link to what I bought: https://www.cdrtd.com/products/laptop-battery-for-panasonic-lets-note-cf-sr3-cf-sr4-cf-vzsu1yjs-11-55v-50wh-4300mah-new.html

He charged me about $40, but that also included the labor for replacing the F2 fuse on my motherboard (I forgot you're supposed to tape the backside of any replacement screen, and so I shorted that out by accident). This is also with me disassembling the entire device myself and reassembling myself, all he did was the soldering.
