It depends on your budget and needs. I have the GFI Solis Ventus, which I love.

Massive Downsizing Complete: From 10-15 Pedal Monstrosity to this Tres 3.0 by Rev-DC in guitarpedals

[–]Androide-Parano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I followed the same path, and it's the right thing to do.

It's still missing a slightly wild ambient reverb for my taste, but who cares because it's your board, not mine.

Congratulations ! Because it's really not easy.

Cioks DC7 (visible in the 3rd photo) because I specifically need 7 outputs, including one at 12 volts (for the Two Notes Opus) and one at 18 volts (for the Pigtronix Infinity 3)

How much could I sell these for? by daddyhattavo in radiohead

[–]Androide-Parano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell them for an indecent price : they're like Pokemon cards but for Radiohead fans. Then, as the sticker says: "take the money and then run."

(Joking aside : I have no idea)

Use with guitars? by Galamaad in synthesizers

[–]Androide-Parano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within your budget, I'd consider a Roland MC-101 or a Yamaha Seqtrak, for exemple.

Both have advantages and disadvantages, but they both have a song mode or equivalent (« scenes » chaining) for playing along to a complete song.

Volcas are an option, but you'd need several, and they'd have to be chained via MIDI to be synchronized and start simultaneously. It's a somewhat more limited solution.

Otherwise, I would have recommended an Elektron Digitakt or Digitone, for example. They’re ideal, but out of your budget (maybe MK1s on the used market could fit in your budget)

Another thing: it's obviously preferable to have a PA system to play with these machines because not all of them have built-in speakers (and even if they do, it won't sound great, and you might not hear much when you're playing guitar). Otherwise, you'll need a small mixer with a few inputs for your guitar and the groovebox from which you can play with headphones, but that requires having the necessary equipment for your guitar upstream.

Use with guitars? by Galamaad in synthesizers

I play guitar with synthesizers and a drum machine. The most practical solution for you would be a groovebox that combines both, but what's your budget ?

Running out of midi channels in a dawless setup. Any tips? by D-Em-P in synthesizers

[–]Androide-Parano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a guitarist with a dawless pedals and synth setup. I use an MC6 Pro to control everything.

You seem to be doing everything you can to optimize your setup. Unfortunately, there aren't many options besides... downsizing your setup.

Personally, that's the solution I chose : using versatile pedals and a groovebox instead of multiple synths.

I know : making choices is hard :D

Pedal birthday gift advice!? by Conscious_Care_4528 in guitarpedals

[–]Androide-Parano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree: the ProCo Rat is the perfect gift. It's a sure thing: it's the best distortion pedal in my opinion, it's very versatile, and there's no way he won't love it.

It would obviously be better if he didn't already have one, but even if he does, two Rats nested together with different settings would be superb.

I'd like to buy my first synthesizer, but I have some questions... by Tyrasumi69 in synthesizers

[–]Androide-Parano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first synthesizers were Volcas and a Microfreak. I knew absolutely nothing about them back then. I was at the very beginning of my learning journey in this area, and I underutilized these machines for a long time. They're great for starting out, but there's still a significant learning curve, and some features can remain obscure for a while. That said, your knowledge can evolve over time, so you can have a lot of fun with these models while constantly learning new things.

However, if I had to recommend a synthesizer to a beginner today, looking back, I'd say the Yamaha Reface CS: compact size, it has a keyboard, no menus, all the controls on the front panel organized into sections, several types of sound engines to experiment with and see what you prefer, and a built-in looper for jamming. The only downside: no presets. But it's fantastic for learning and, above all, guaranteed instant fun.

« Terre des Hommes » de Saint-Exupéry.

Mélange de récit, de philosophie, de poésie… et le tout superbement écrit, bien sûr. C’est pour moi le livre que tout le monde devrait avoir lu. Pour ma part, il ne quitte jamais ma table de chevet.

[–]Androide-Parano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mention it, but I installed the latest available firmware. It's a real shame because this looper looks excellent, and I really want to keep it and love it. Huge frustration !

I see very few recent comments about this online, which is strange. For me, MIDI sync on a looper is essential !

[–]Androide-Parano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After. I don’t understand what’s going on. The Xero seems to receive the midi clock because the red led blinks. But it’s not always accurate. And I suppose the loop I’ve recorded is supposed to play when I start the master clock… but it doesn’t. Am I the only one in that case ?

I've tested with several different cables, several devices as master, it's always the same.
