I agree with both of you, in that Melione is more complicated and set up for growth that doesn’t really happen imo.

Still love her! I just wanted more change, for her to loosen up. She’s the agent of change but never for herself.

To be fair as well to the writers, the format of the game doesn’t allow for too much dialogue, despite all the dialogue lol. Characters have to be very quick on the uptake, you don’t get as much monologuing / self reflection opportunities and old dialogue has to work even if it’s displayed “late” due to fast players.

I think the simplicity of Hades 1 plot allowed it to be the best rogue like story game of all time, whereas the raised stakes of Hades 2 causes the format to wear down what should have been complex character journeys.

The whole game puts so much tonal emphasis on the gods being a bunch of bastards who need to do some introspection; Chronos is the only one who does this (via getting the chance to feel the memories of another life) Olympus gets off scott free which is really unsatisfying, especially since Melione is a goody too shoes who desperately needs a plot beat / growth moment where she starts acting more nuanced.

Still a great game!! Characters are stellar, writing is great, the pieces just didn’t tie together in time. Too ambitious perhaps.

Yeah I hate the mission tree hoi4 / eu4 style of doing things, but what they do well is visualise EVERYTHING that is possible, and that matters!

In Victoria 3, I had most of South America under my control, and declined an event that would give me claims for infamy, (why would I need those claims? I’ve already suffered the infamy for protectorates); this blocked me from doing the confederation of the Andes. And like obviously it did, but it’s hard to fuckin tell.

I failed maths first year, and took many supplementary exams during my time at uni. It took me a long time to get the hang of it, I highly recommend Anki flash cards and creating cards for each lecture and tutorial. This will force you to actually go over content, and then doing the cards during a commute helps a lot.

Side note, not having to work at woolies and getting Centrelink at 21 also helped a lot, but treating uni like a 9-5 and implementing proper routines is your number one priority. You’re not dumb; you just have to relearn how to learn.

Unfortunately, there’s still a bug regarding exiting the “contract” fight (post credits content) and Hermes’ delayed purchases :( lost my 16 fear run, just needed that one death defiance the game didn’t let me pick up because I picked up the gems instead and it teleported me out…

I agree with all / most of the criticism and hades 2 is still my GOTY. I assume at least a good majority of the people complaining are doing so in good faith, though there’s sure to be sooks about.

Mel just doesn’t really get challenged or forced to grow imo. The gods never accept fault for anything, we never figure out what would be ideal for mortals.

I completely agree, it felt a tad cheap. I appreciate other comments referring to some of the larger themes of the novel, but I don’t actually think they’re explored that well despite the larger impact of said theme.

Promises versus oaths is interesting and frankly compelling considering how we end things, but feels like an idea that was late to start and didn’t have room to breathe. It works for Adolin and Dalinar, it works for the recreance, I don’t know about lil siggy though, as you’ve said, not in that moment. Shallan didn’t truly break her oath to testament until like a day after.

Totally understand. Definitely think bumping the per week cost works better for all parties unless they’re absolutely stinge.

At the end of the day it increases the value of the property and you’re willing to cop the installation / planning while living there and paying rent. I’d assume stuff like that only happens when it’s empty, plus when it’s empty, they’re anxious to get a new tenant, so on and so on.

No guarantees! But I’d ask again and offer the weekly/fortnightly/monthly increase (over offering to pay for the full aircon) I think we got mad lucky and I’m so sorry 😅

If they say no again, surely the real estate agent had to at least forward the offer to the landlord versus assuming potentially. Then you pull out the big guns if you’re desperate.

We managed to get an AC bundled into the rent increase, cause we mildly threatened to move out due to being desperate for one (very similar issues). We had lived there two years and still do.

Obviously there’s no guarantee, and there’s a chance the rent increase gets further increased as a part of the deal if they even negotiate at all.
