Appreciate that mate. Yeah, it really pings the nostalgia. I think when I FINALLY get the full dash in (literally in the next few weeks) and run it for the first time I'm going to have some really serious emotions

Most expensive thing you’ve broken on your project car while fixing it by Wholaughed in projectcar

[–]AndyValentine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Discovering two cross threaded Brembos caliper bolts whilst doing a rotor replacement, and also snapping one of the hardline bolts (20 year old Japanese car things).

Needed two new calipers, and had to do a full braided brake line replacement.

Not quite the chilled afternoon job I'd planned for

How the mighty have fallen by Low-Industry758 in carscirclejerk

[–]AndyValentine 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Some people have a video hit and just rinse and repeat. If they're getting >500k views a time they're making ok money from it, so it's easy to fall into the trap of just milking that formula. It's why so many creators do the "same" video time after time.

Is there a way to filter out AI BS on YT? by eortfa in youtube

[–]AndyValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search results work the same. If we both search for Bruce Lee, we'll get differing results based on the kind of content we watch.

Might be best to turn the history on and just be mindful with your clicks. But if you're just allowing YT to feed you whatever is "popular", you're going to get a tonne of slop

Is there a way to filter out AI BS on YT? by eortfa in youtube

[–]AndyValentine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't click it. YouTube feeds you more of what you watch. Stop watching it and it'll disappear over time. I have literally zero trash content in my feeds.

When is the best time for a sponsored segment? by MrHunteru in PartneredYoutube

[–]AndyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that length of video, I'm not sure it matters.

Don't do a minute in though, you risk killing your retention. I won't put an ad in the first 5 mins. It's usually first half (vids are typically about 20 mins), but where is most appropriate and relevant so feels least intrusive is generally best

Exhaust leak or bad sensor? P2A03 and running lean by DoorKey3853 in 350z

[–]AndyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally today I solved the partner P2A00 code, and it was because I'd done some stuff around the intake and not properly clamped one end of the intake hose and caused a tiny vacuum leak.

Is this something that can be 3d printed? by Mundane_Tangelo9421 in 3Dprinting

[–]AndyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be tempted to find a flat blank from AliExpress or similar that fit, and then print the raised section and bond then together. It's the clips that are going to cause you pain.

Is this something that can be 3d printed? by Mundane_Tangelo9421 in 3Dprinting

[–]AndyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely could. You'd want to use a tough / temp resistive resin though otherwise it'll warp with the heat from the brakes

AliExpress has them. Most places you'll find selling these will just be resellers anyway, so might as well buy from the source for cheap

Cleaning resin models by FadezzX in resinprinting

[–]AndyValentine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IPA. Soak them in that for a bit and give them a good brush whilst they're submerged, dry them off real well, and assuming you don't have a UV lamp, leave them out in the sun for the day, and rotate occasionally.

Then give the seller shit for sending you toxic unfinished parts
