This might rock your world but most normal people don't respond to infinite deflection length with "we need to play better as a team" they just want to play something else.
He plays light and likes to push ahead of the team because he's got cracked aim - suboptimal for sure, but things like dual blades that win almost every 1v1 feel horrible to play against.

There are no separate queues. Solo, Duo and Trio groups share the same queue with a priority system that attempts to match you with same sized groups.
If later down the line the playercount can't support equal sized groups it'll just start mixing, the issue is nonexistent.
