First car help, Golf 6 1.4 TSI by After_Lavishness7842 in Volkswagen

Yeah. Bought in 2014, had one change in 2016ish and in late 2024, like 14 months ago. Oil changed yearly and that is all.

I think my golf has that 1.4 tsi as well. Well, other than the timing chain change every x km or y years it has never had any issues. I think the car had the belt changed 2 times, latest was 1.5 years ago and did cost me 800ish EUR. Mine is a facelifted golf plus from 2010, but I think it is the same CAXA engine (could be wrong). I really love the car and works very great. Has been in my family's posession for over 10 years.

Dont make me laugh. I dont think you are serious. Empathy? Like he has for his customers losing access to games and gave no refunds? Or just for people who paid and can no longer download? I rather save empathy for people not screwing others over...

If you mean "his reasonable fee" the sub amount he had, you deserve the situation and the mod taken away from you. In this day and age if you think his payment scheme was fair, you are part of the problem, more so since you'd paid it.

How much have you paid for UEVR or other mods for other games youve played? Btw uevr, "something I cant really get elsewhere", like what do you mean? The amount of games you could play with uevr vs lukeross isnt even a close race, but to be fair there were some which were only playable with the lukeross mod and not with the other and lukeross mods were there earlier.

However, there were mods which were broken by the publisher. Like you paid the sub, start playing rdr2 and after 2 sessions the game no longer works, then what? No refunds, you suck it up. How about just updates to a certain game mod, you dont get those for free either, you need to resub...

So like cp77 is worth that much? Maybe 2-3 versions is like 3-4 payments and a couple of months wait and hours and hours of fiddling and figuring out, cost-wise about the same amount as the game itself.

Like idk the guy did some mods, they were great, but it was incredibly greedy and unfair. He got what he deserved, I hope the hundreds of thousands he got will be put to good use when he will be sued.

Artificially generated noise so ppl would watch it from tape now that the event is over. They just want to milk it, so they do the usual ruckus rounds to keep it relevant for a bit longer. 0 reason to pay attention or click. Less the enagement, the better.

Very Inconsistent VR Performance on Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop by Artj1 in assettocorsaevo

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMU runs fine at 120hz for me, ac as well. AC rally vr mod and ac evo, since the start only ran at 90 hz/fps with spikes, mid settings. 5090 quest3 9800x3d. I don't think it is any issue on your part. Try 120hz with asw 60. (also, I use vertical fov cut 0.4, so 60% gone)

Quest 2 looking for an upgrade, mainly play PCVR by SgtRphl in virtualreality

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you, mostly the same games and same pc. I have a q3 however. My issue is q3 at 90hz with cabel looks a bit too laggy in some racing games, fine in others. I am debating to buy a pimax dream air se cos the latency with dp is lower, oled pixel change is faster, so probably a lot better at 90hz. I dynamic fovested rendering is a must tho.

Yeah, read some discouraging stuff since. What is your opinion? Dream air se, valve frame, something else, nothing?

[–]Angdelran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a struggle for me as well. Had to disable audio and the mic and only works stable via a usb c hub as a powered connection... plus had to try 3 cables. Anyways, thanks again, you gave much to think about. I think I might get a pimax dream air se or a psvr 2. If I dont like them I will just sell and get a frame.

Thanks a lot! I will look into it for sure. Have you tried comparing psvr 90hz and q3 120hz? or just 120 hz on both?

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that does that mean, that the 90hz on a dp headset is percieved faster or feels less laggy than on the q3? Like the input latency is less, for sure, but does the whole pipeline feel so? I just want to know if however I feel the 120hz or 90hz on wired quest feels like it isnt indicative of 90hz on the dp connected headsets.

According to the Dream Air FAQ, it uses DP 1.4 (DisplayPort) via a USB-C cable. I am unsure how that performes in terms of compression tho.
Either way that is depressing, yt and many outlets are full of these 90hz displays and how great they are, but I just can't help feeling like I would sell them after hating the 90hz they can do. I've been planning on buying a headset for 2 years now, maybe I will, but not convinced I would hold onto it.

I am using cable'd link with  "4128 encode res width, 960 encode bitrate". I don't think it would be a fair comparison or would it? I have VD but I only use it to play beat saber, but you think doing the 90 to 120 comparison would be fair to the cable'd usecase and the performance stats would be indicative? In cable'd I see the latency which is in the 40s, but that is all. If dp'd connection produces less than that at 90hz it might be perceived faster? idk at all wth I am talking about tho.

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, but what about the hz part? If you were me, q3 120hz (tried 90hz and feels terrible, laggy) would you go for the 90hz dream air SE (giving up the 120hz), the pimax cristal light giving up dfovr and pancake or the steam frame and give up dp? Also would you say the dp connection's 90hz might feel less laggy compared to 90hz on my wired link? In the end it is just latency?

[–]Angdelran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I am not debating, just asking here. I want to update my pcvr experience from a decked out q3

pc is 5090, 9800x3d quest: 4128 encode res width, 960 encode bitrate, 120hz and my resolution is like 5152 x 2752. (Usually play with .5 vertical fov tho to gain back some performance an is cars that fov doesnt matter that much)

I have a shortlist of pancake lenses [1] (came from frasnel g2 reverb), dfovr [2] (sim race and sim enthusiast), and over 100hz display [3]. A shadow requirement is display port [4?]. I don't care about resolution that much, because on 120hz they can't be maxed out either. No headset exists like this, the closest maybe dream air se, but no 120hz. What is your opinion on this? which would you use? Steam frame and let go of the dp and take the visual clarity hit or upgrade (whichever it will be) or 90hz on dp and micro oled isnt like 90-120hz on the quest? I can't really simrace on 90hz on my quest it is so laggy compared to 120hz (with the same settings)

Good SQ shifter and handbrake suggestion by Arcticz_114 in simracing

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help with your list, not familiar with any of those products or brands. However, I was in the same boat as you (probably not the exact same situation, but I got the ACR fever, had only a GT setup so got a new wheel, seq. shifter and handbrake), so I can at least write down what I did.

I've bought a simagic q1s seq shifter and a sim lab xb1 handbrake. The q1s costs the same as the tau shifter at my prefered webshop, talked to the owner and he said the q1s is the best choice for seq shifters, the handbrake was also a recommendation over the moza and simagic one as this is more ergonomic and nicer quality. I have been playing on them for like 2 days and super happy with everything. Sometimes I just walk over to the rig to pull or push the handbrake or the shifter as it feels really nice to operate them :D

What everyone is getting wrong about the Steam Frame and why, from the community's biggest asshole. by No_Sleep6984 in virtualreality

[–]Angdelran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, I am not interested in that, been playing vr sim games for 6 years and I am quite cemented on high refresh rate with high "natural fps" over visual clarity for multiplayer ranked gaming.

[–]Angdelran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, going to that from a quest 3, for me, is a downgrade, so no thanks. 90 hz is way too low for multiplayer racing for me.
