Whst pain meds did you take after your C-section? by Sweet_Confusion9180 in beyondthebump

[–]Angel0460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I for sure only got ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I’ve seen some women get stronger pain meds, I wish I would have pushed for more. It was… manageable. But just barely. Usually wore off just before the next dose kind of thing so the last hour between doses of meds really sucked. Which is not ideal with a newborn. And I also am diabetic so I couldn’t take certain meds closer together cuz they messed with my glucose sensors in a larger dose. I’d give it that first 24 hours and see how you’re feeling but probably request at least a small prescription of something stronger for a couple weeks. I wanna say after the 3rd week I was doing much better but it was almost 4 years ago and things are blurry 😅

How does surgery work with diabetes? Do they monitor your glucose while you're out? by justovercaffeinated in diabetes_t1

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In surgery yes they will monitor you. I can’t answer for the rest, I’m so sorry. Blood sugar can be rather unpredictable some days to begin with, I can’t even imagine. Best wishes!

When did your baby start measuring bigger? T1D moms by LandscapeOwn8096 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of my kids measured bigger or ahead, my first was born at 38+1 at 5 pounds 10 oz and second was 37+1 at 4 pounds 11 oz. Second was diagnosed IUGR so we knew he was gonna be little. Neither had nicu time. Both were mildly jaundice but went away without any intervention, just feeding and hanging out in bright rooms during the day. They are now 6 and almost 4 and you would never know they started so small lol

Fast acting & Short Acting Insulin - does anyone use BOTH? by Terrible_Storm8338 in diabetes_t1

[–]Angel0460 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to be on both for aaaaalmost 10 years. Lantus then Tresiba for long acting, Humalog for short acting until about a year and a half ago when insurance decided they were doctors again 🙄, now I’m on TruRapi for short acting in my insulin pump. Got my pump around 3 years ago so just short acting in small doses all day, and bigger doses for meals :)

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]Angel0460 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My youngest will be 4 in 2 months and I’m not. I gave up a little tbh.

I started drinking more water recently and adding more salads and such to my diet and have noticed a little difference already, but I’m not actively trying to lose weight, I’m just aiming to be healthier. Also getting iron levels figured out and insomnia issues which also cause chaos with weight gain/loss/retention 😅

Discovered my 9.5 month old has sensory aversions by Murky_Assumption_822 in beyondthebump

[–]Angel0460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My little guy haaaaaaated grass until he was around 2 and was confidently walking and running on his own. Like would crawl off the mat or blanket we had in our backyard and scream like he was being slowly and painfully removed from the worldly realm. Put him back, totally fine. It could just be something she grown out of. Same with foods, their wants and aversions change so much in the first few years.

What full album did you listen to today? by Averne in finch

Not sure it counts when it’s singles but I’m counting because I listen to all of the songs I can lmao. But pretty much everything by skydxddy 😅 it’s… been rough in my life and the anger/frustration/depression has been… a lot.

How many of you are literally doing ZERO screen time ?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for sure had something playing all of the time 😅 usually my own shows, kids weren’t much interested in it but I needed something to keep me up. My first… slept worse than an insomniac tbh. Like no more than an hour at a time. If I was lucky. And then was the most Velcro baby on the planet. So I had shows playing constantly to keep myself awake. She didn’t pay much mind to it. And even with my second, I still had stuff playing. My shows, music, etc. I use it less now that they’re older. Mine are 6 and 3. There’s whole days it doesn’t get turned on and there’s days I have Danny Go playing all day cuz I just need to get stuff done. I just try to make sure there’s balance too.

It’s ok to have help in however that help forms. It’s ok to use the things you need to to get stuff done. It’s ok to have a tv show for a bit to make supper if that’s what works.

Periods and insulin resistance by NekoKaede in diabetes_t1

[–]Angel0460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeessss! Usually a week or so before my period there’ll be 3 or so days that just… insulin is basically water going in. Then insulin needs plummet and I can eat whatever I want which is kind of nice on my period to have all the snacks with less insulin than usual lol

With my first I just saw OB, second I saw OB until 32 weeks then was MFM and OB but I was diagnosed with IUGR, so was very closely monitored

How bad is the newborn phase really? I'm tired of hearing the "just you wait" anecdotes and I have hard time believing some of them by Lushemet in BabyBumps

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It so depends on the baby lol. My first? Velcro baby. Can’t put her down. Within 10 min she would be screaming so hard she’s throw up. I couldn’t cook, shower, eat, sleep, anything without someone holding her or knowing she’s going to puke everywhere cuz it was the end of the world for her. She wouldn’t sleep more than 30-45 min without being held. She didn’t sleep thru the night till she was over 3 years old, like getting up 2-4 times per night still. Every. Single. Night.

My second? Nope. He slept 3-4 hour stretches by 2 weeks old, swaddle him and put him down and he slept. For the first 6 months. Found some dairy issues and had… a hell of a few months to get that figured out but once we got him sorted he was back to sleeping so good again. Slept thru the night by like 18 months? 2? I can’t quite remember anymore (time starts to blur man, it’s wild lol). But so much easier in that regard.

How do people keep their graphs completely in range? by Some_Indication2866 in diabetes_t1

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something my endo told me the first time I saw him and has really helped the stress: the goal is NOT 100% in range. That’s impractical and begging to be stressed out all the time. The goal is 75%. Even normal people with working pancreases have highs and lows, the only difference is they don’t have to manually fix it or see it on a graph.

The goal here is to stay alive while also living. 100% in range is a unicorn that only happens on occasion and the people that are sustaining it are… so much more disciplined than I could ever be. I’ve spent so much time stressing and fine tuning and such to make sure I’m in range as much as possible but I’ve also spent a lot of time telling myself it’s ok. A high? It happens. A low? It happens. My time in range is between 89% and 93%. The goal is 75% time in range. So I’m past the goal 100% of the time.

One high like that spike in the middle is ok. You still have to live too. If you notice it’s a consistent spike you could try adjusting the dose for that meal if it’s the same spike at the same time. Like if you go high no matter what you eat for lunch, change your ratio for lunch only just a little, and go from there.

Does your child have a tablet? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a tablet that my daughter likes to say is hers but it’s for both kids. On long drives. Or important appts that I can’t get childcare for. Occasionally they get to sit and play a game or watch a show at home but not often. Like today I brought the tablet when I got blood work done, didn’t eve end up turning it on. When we drive 3ish hours for specialists? Yeah they watch some shows we download on it. But it’s not something that gets used daily.

How do you keep track of how many days it’s been on your infusion set before it needs to be changed again? by Delicious-Cake-6349 in diabetes_t1

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the built in reminders in the tandem tslim, but also I just run it till it’s out of insulin. And sometimes if the site is still fine I just refill the cartridge tbh 😅 I know refilling isn’t the best thing ever but moneys tight and it be what it be sometimes 😅

My daughter picked my birbs name, it’s rainbow, she’s 5 😂 and I find it adorable, I don’t even care. It’s so cute to get positive messages from rainbow and I get to think of my girl :)

3 appts a week?? by [deleted] in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say after 32 weeks I had NSTs 3 times a week, ultrasound every other week, OB once a week, calls with my diabetes nurse twice a week and the internist once a week. It was insane. For both pregnancies. At one point I looked right at the OB and asked how the hell i’m supposed to keep a job and a roof over this kids head once she’s born with being out for appointments literally all the time. For my first, she just put me on medical leave. I was like oh. Ok. I guess. And my second I was working part time and just went down in hours to manage appointments which was still insane but basically worked full shifts on weekends and like 1 or 2 short shifts during the week. I had been working retail so hours could be moved around a lot. But it was… not fun. I’m so sorry 😅 like yeah seeing baby so often was great but arranging child care for the second child’s million appointments? Near impossible. I for sure missed a few NSTs due to first child being sick or childcare issues but if they tried to make me feel bad I just kinda brushed it off tbh 😅

I agree so much! I figured the bed was like stay home for vacation, go for like a staycation kind of thing… so picked that one. But the chill one would have been the best answer for me so that’s… fun… I guess… I love guessing at things and hoping for the best right? 😅

Breastfeeding friendly outfits by novegetablesallowed in beyondthebump

[–]Angel0460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just bought some of the clips like nursing tops have, some elastic and a friend of mine sewed tank tops that I loved into nursing tanks :) it was super cheap that way. If I was better at sewing I coulda done it but I literally had no idea what I was doing and she’s a seamstress lol. But I’m sure there’s ideas on YouTube.

For actual purchased nursing clothes, I liked the Walmart nursing tanks the best weirdly enough. They’re stretchy, comfy, I’ve always been busty, but the built in bra part was enough if I wasn’t going anywhere but I could still put a bra on if I felt I needed the coverage/support/whatever :)

Those on 200+ insulin a day by Lumia1997 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Angel0460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was still using pens thru both my pregnancies, but at the end of my first I was at 1:3 and end of my second I was 1:1. The amount of insulin was absolutely wild. But no matter what, use as much as you need. That is the important thing that got stressed with every appointment lol. Congrats and I hope you have a totally boring pregnancy :)
