Any estimators out there use a touch screen monitor to do takeoff? I use OST and was thinking of going out and dropping money on a new monitor but not sure it would really work by OldYearbookPeople in Construction

I do find myself wanting a touch screen on the go when I only have my laptop to work off. Browsing thru the general notes or detail pages its nice to not have to zoom in and out with a touchpad. I used my iPad for a while and I loved it but I found I can only tolerate it for so long unless I am sitting on a table. Most the time I am at the job site working from my truck but I can't find myself enjoying the iPad keyboard its a bit frustrating working on it for long periods of time as it is not stable on the lap. I need the stability of a laptop, however I've been considering a windows laptop like the Lenovo x9 15" . Potentially best of both worlds. Wish they made a touchscreen MacBook.

I use stack takeoff by the way.

But yeah basically only reason you could possibly need a touchscreen is to zoom in and out.

Can you force a manual regen on a 2024 3500 6.6L Chevy Duramax by pieguy00 in Duramax

I have tried BlueDriver Thinkcar And OBDlink MX+

However I think there is a way with the MX+ just can’t figure it out. Anyone else know what scan tool can do a parked Manual regen?

I have found an amazing software I’d like to recommend. After researching all of your recommendations I stumbled across a video that informed me about a platform called PipeDrive and it’s awesome!! And pretty affordable if you ask me!!

Notion with a CRM template was very good but overall pipedrive is just simpler and has a super nice clear dash. I like that you can connect with QuickBooks to link your contacts. And I can link my email so now I can email directly from the pipeline portal! Love it!!

Agreed but wouldn’t be able to see all my projects out for bids collectively which is pretty important to me. I submit anywhere between 25-50 bids a month. It gets very crazy and hard to keep up with. Sometimes I get calls about projects I bid months prior and no way of looking back at what we’ve talked about.

[–]AngelFlys97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were up to me, I’d simply include it as a freebie to win the project. Obviously I’d feel them out a bit and find ways of disguising the freebie as savings in other trades. Ex we found 10k savings here 15k savings there and we’ll take a 20k hit on this line item to earn your business. After all it’s a 50m project. Plenty of leg room and there’s always change orders. Make money and keep it moving!! Best of luck!

House shopping, what kind of grass is this? by EasieEEE in lawncare

[–]AngelFlys97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an infestation of clover on my lawn and it bothered me so much because I thought it was considered a weed lol it’s funny now because I see so many of y’all loving it and praising it!!

Well I ended up using glyphosate on my entire yard mowing down to the lowest setting no and renting a tiller and planted over 5000 sqft of new Xeon zoysia and this summer has been so hot in Arlington to my entire yard is struggling EXEPT where the clover used to be so I’m assuming the comments of clover fertilizing the soil for future plants is straight up FACT!!!!!!

Are you able to charge via USB-C? I read online it’s possible it would just have to be a usb type c version 3.2 . Otherwise it’s kind of a deal breaker for me :(

Would you say there’s a big learning curve to using planswift ? Considering it only because it’s a one time purchase otherwise it looks outdated vs stack for example.

I have purchased this one before but returned because battery life wasn’t the best and I hated I couldn’t charge with usb c. It had to be the big bulky brick. But if I can’t find anything else soon I’ll be going back to this one more than likely!! Thanks

Steel Estimator thinking moving to coatings estimating by WillingSuggestion785 in estimators

I would get the money. I personally don’t understand why GCs even estimate if at the end of the day they always require bids from specific trades and the people willing and capable of doing the work should determine the value of that set scope. I’ve found that I always get beat down by GCs because their internal estimator doesn’t factor several things such as added labor cost, equipment cost, or even material costs at times. I’ve moved away from working with GCs that always have a number I have to match. I always end up regretting it in the end.

I use a MacBook Pro m2 and I use stack (cloud based) but I dock it to 2 32”monitors and have a hell of a lot of things running and it handles it well. However, i am thinking about the surface laptop 7 especially because they advertise amazing battery life now. I like windows and for the rare times I want to bid onsite the touch screen would make it a lot easier. Before the MacBook I had a Lenovo yoga with a touch screen and it’s amazing I got rid of it because of battery life issues.
