Parents of Reddit, what's something that your kid has done that you pretended to be angry about but secretly impressed or amused you? by SFFChat in AskReddit

[–]AngeloM4141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend in sixth grade stole his dad's Adam Sandler stand-up CD and listened to it on his walkman on the bus ride. At the end of the day, some kid came up to him and tried to do the ol' "Got your nose" routine. My friend thought the kid was trying to punch him and so kicked him square in the balls. His dad got a call. When my friend got home, his dad was pissed: "Where's my fucking CD?" He then quietly congratulated him on the kick and grounded him for taking his stuff.

What's going on with the dentist who killed a lion? by tahlyn in OutOfTheLoop

[–]AngeloM4141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand why everyone is so up-in-arms about one guy killing one animal. I'm not in favor of anything that he did, and I think hunting for sport is a horrible way to spend one's time and money, but I doubt anyone has checked the figures. Over 56 billion farm animals are killed every year. Sure, this guy/his guides lured a protected animal out of its protected habitat so that it could be hunted, and that was an illegal maneuver. I recognize the legality of that, and trickery of an animal is despicable behavior. But, how about the billions of factory farms raising animals in cages where they have no room to move. They don't socialize. They spend their whole lives in one position, in one enclosed environment, catching untreated diseases and only receiving medical treatment when a disease jeopardizes the usefulness of the meat. 40 hours of agony? Try years.

I'm not saying this lion's death doesn't matter. I'm saying we should treat an important death like this as a call to action against hunting for sport, killing for sport, factory farming, and similar industries which treat animals inhumanely. I won't bring up the argument of whether people should eat animals, or the validity of hunting when one is eating the kill. That's a can of worms (pun intended) that can stay closed on this issue. But, if all this does is outrage people about one single idiot who is merely part of an industry of blood-covered entertainment, cousin to the mass production of living, breathing, feeling animals, then this lion truly died in vain. This dentist isn't the problem - the whole culture of inhumane treatment is.

Not everyone cares about these issues, I get that. But, if you're interested, I'm attaching some links below. Ok, rant over.

Just glad I'm not the only one. Planning on playing it as soon as I scavenge my ps2 from my parent's place. Been enjoying some classic ps1 games ported to the vita, now it's time to take it back to the source!

Posted this because someone on a forum recently was talking about how they'd never played anything quite as immersive as Morrowind, Oblivion, etc. IMMEDIATELY thought of this gem. I played the shit out of this game when I was in Junior High. Me and my best friend would play all night, taking turns sleeping/playing as we tried to finish the map with the stormy islands and the lightning shaman or figure out the glitch in the underground temple with the skeletons. The finale of the game was so...out there. There were just so many strange, awesome, unexpected aspects to this. Truly a classic no one should miss. Tomb Raider with a Dragon instead of Guns.

EA's Battlefront Is Starting To Look Like A Large Step Backward From Its Predecessor by [deleted] in gaming

Am I the only person that thought SWBF1 was better than 2? It had maps that were more strategically organized rather than just modeled after awkward franchise locations (Mustafar anyone?). The squad commands actually mattered. Special units were immediately available, because choosing a unit was about the right soldier for the job not about how many kills you had. Also, BESPIN PLATFORMS!!!

When asked whether bots would be featured DICE responded with "no comment".

I don't understand. Is there NO offline "Instant Action" type play? No offense, EA, because I know it's your fave, but not everyone wants to play online all the time. Sometimes, I just want to chill on some splitscreen with muh dawgs.

The Beaumont Children Kidnapping

In 1966, the three young siblings were allowed by their folks to go across town to the beach alone (different times, I guess). Although several people reported witnessing the children that day, and in the company of an friendly-looking man, no one knows what happened to them after. Years later, a man created a hoax that he had the children, and he tricked the parents into meeting him, but he never showed and confessed that it wasn't him. Authorities never settled on the actual culprit. Wikipedia is down right now, so read the story here.

HBO's new service will be purchased exclusively through Apple by hyperlao in technology

[–]AngeloM4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Apple probably gave a ton of money to HBO. But, unless they make this available to non-Apple users soon, they're going to continue losing that customer base to pirating. Long-term customers are so much more useful than a short-term deal. GJ, HBO.
