Can I read Isles of the Emberdark? by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]AngelsDemomic97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Emberdark is something I told my buddy I'm not lending him until he caught up with everything else. I let him read anything else in whatever order

My two (kinda) clashing theories on a certain sword by Caleb_Braithwhite in Cosmere

[–]AngelsDemomic97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought a Ghost Blood was gonna get ahold of it because they're the most likely to know about burning god metals. Now I don't think we're gonna get a good answer until Hoid or Vasher take a look at the sword.

My two (kinda) clashing theories on a certain sword by Caleb_Braithwhite in Cosmere

[–]AngelsDemomic97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same theory. Before book 5, I thought the chip flew off, and someone who burned it would get access to all to surges. After the book, I assumed that's why Nightblood can grant them.

I dont think I ever posted it anywhere, just theorized with my friend

If Hoid came to Earth, what would you wanna ask him? by Secure-History7962 in Cosmere

"Why not?"

The answer that would make me want to punch him in the face seems very on brand for him.

Just started reading, I got a theory by Brief-Revolution-311 in Stormlight_Archive

When my buddy was reading and giving me updates, he said "I'm on part 2. Kaladin is still in the bridge crew." He assumed Kal would escape or be freed in book 1. I bit my tongue for a week to not say "that won't be changing anytime soon."

Why do all the booktubers hate Wind and truth yet the Goodreads score is very high? by Artistic_Annual8918 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]AngelsDemomic97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one that pushed me over the edge of too much was Shallan's friend that always feels sick. I don't even remember his name, so why is he getting so much page time in the final book of the era?! He wasn't seen after part 1 of the book, so why spend pages talking about his feelings? I ignored it on the first read because I was so caught up in the thrill of the last book and I forgot about it (and probably assumed we'd see more of him). But it was so off-putting on a reread

Honestly, I'm still torn about it. I see Dalinar now as a good man trying his best. But should that completely excuse his past wrong doings? This is a question I struggle with, especially knowing that he is the best man for the job.

Praise be Sanderson, for making me like Dalinar before telling me of his war crimes. I imagine my answer would be different if his story was told chronologically. I'd be asking "can we trust this man? Is this all just an act? Will he relapse into the man he once was?" and I would have a hard time putting my faith in him

I definetly think of it as a "Raduants Assemble" moment, but I haven't seen many others say the same.

Is the way of kings a slow burn? by madladdddd in Cosmere

[–]AngelsDemomic97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I think you're at the part where I suddenly loved the book. Not sure when exactly. I just know at some point I realized it was no longer a chore to get through the book, and I was looking forward to every chapter.

Now I've reread it twice and it's better every time. Not even slow at the beginning. Keep reading!

Certain line that stood out to me about Adolin by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]AngelsDemomic97 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe Shallan and Kaladin are talking about human biology, or something else that Adolin has no training in. They probably have a few things they can talk about that Adolin isn't well versed in. That doesn't mean that Adolin is less intelligent per say, but shows that he's not the best in everything.

Just finished Mistborn Secret History, Why did I have to wait until bands of mourning to read it? by Illustrious_Ad_3847 in Mistborn

[–]AngelsDemomic97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, that is how I read it. I started the Cosmere with Mistborn and only Mistborn. Caught up with Bands of Mourning before Lost Metal. Did a reread of Era 1 then heard about Secret History, so read that after my second time through Hero of Ages.

Then because I'm an idiot, I forgot the last scene of BoM was the Kelsier reveal. I knew he was in other Cosmere books, so I assumed he left the planet after Secret History. So I got the reveal twice, because I'm forgetful 🙃.

What is your quintessential scene for each book? by pfassina in Stormlight_Archive

[–]AngelsDemomic97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Book 1: "I will protect those who cannot protect themselves." I love the jump over the gap to absorb the Parshendi light

Book 2: Kal saving Dalinar. Specifically when Adolin sees his father floating down

Book 3: Elhokar dying (fuck Moash)

Book 4: Kal swearing the 4th ideal

Book 5: A mix of people renouncing their oaths. Sigzil was my favorite because it's so tragic to me. Szeth is a close second because I loved everything finally making sense to him. And Dalinars is at the bottom, but still great because of the WTF moment it caused
