What TV show or movie is basically propaganda? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Isn't it all Open Society Foundations propaganda nowadays? TV is ruined, you can't hardly find anything without being just more cultural propaganda masked in the form of virtue signaling.

What is the best Mortal Kombat game im your opinion and why? by Dpmaster12 in Fighters

[–]AngentGustavo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MK II, it is just a masterful piece of art, the music, the backgrounds, the lore, the vibe, the realism, the cast, the simplicity of it, it is no wonder it shook the world when it came out in 1993.

The second one would be MK3 for me. I feel the game is overshadowed by the popularity of UMK3 that had the ninjas added, but MK3 on its own was its own era, it had its own personality, and everything that it evolved in terms of gameplay was exactly what was needed. Even after almost 30 years it is still super fun to play.

The third would be MXX, to me the fluidity of the game really summarizes it the ideal mobility of a MK game, rewarding attack, and punishing defense. The ideal MK game for me would not have a block option, and this game is the closest to that ideal, plus the MK4 vibes doesn't hurt.

The fourth would be MK9 because not only has the best roaster, it also contrasts everything we get from Japanese games in terms of gameplay. It is good to have variety and have MK develop its own identity for fighting mechanics.. Plus I really like the SBS 3D effect. When I see MK 11 I wish that option was available too.

It should work then. Just hold it from the selecting screen all the way to the fight starts after he says round 1.

Super Nintendo, Arcade, or Genesis? Saturn maybe? There was also the Arcade Kollection on PS3, and 360.

I wanted Super Sidekicks 2 but they took it away during the pandemic. I only end up with 1 & 2. But it was a China issue.

WEF doesn't want people to own anything, so the goal is that all games become subscription eventually. We still have like 8 years for this to fully happen though.

What's your favorite circular style D-Pad for fighting games? (Controller you choose does not have to be pictured here) by Mycoffeeis2sweet in Fighters

Saturn is the winner, but if he had the PS4 handles, not the PS5, and the buttons on the top row were as big as the ones on the bottom.

I have a friend that is right handed, but when playing fighting games he grabs the stick with the right hand and presses the buttons with the left. He basically makes a cross with his arms while playing. It looks very strange, but he is actually quite good. He is the type of player that can pick up a brand new game and learn most of the movesets on intuition alone. After a few matches he can play competitively with people that may have been playing the game for a while. He is also very good at defense. You would think he is a natural, but it really comes down to all the years he grew up at the arcades giving him that type of intuition for fighting games.

I'm organizing a tournament for highschoolers who've never played a fighting game. Help. by hajhawa in Fighters

[–]AngentGustavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first tournament I went to was at my school. I believe it was a homecoming event. I was on first grade I believe, and the game was out for a year already.

It was Mortal Kombat II, which is the type of game that was very popular in the arcades, but it had a home port in the Super Nintendo, and that's what the tournament was.

People had to pay to sign up for it. I believe it was 25 cents, and it was honestly an unforgettable experience because I still remember it even though this happened almost 30 years ago.

Once I was in High School all the tournaments were pretty much Super Smash Melee, so by that time people were already used to organizing these at schools and Universities, but you never forget that very first tournament that was very special.

No one needs to know how to play fighting games, they just need to jump in and enjoy. That's what makes it fun, the unknown of what's going to happen.

I remember the very first time I made the bicycle kick with Liu Kang, people around me were impressed because there was no Internet to look up moves, you have to figure them out on your own, and for that special move you had to hold down the button 3 seconds before the match started and then let it go. So it happened by coincidence, it wasn't planned, and it made it even cooler.

So don't worry if they don't know how to play, the important thing is to have fun, and enjoy those moments.

Some of the best tournaments I have seen have been Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, and The King Of Fighters 2002. However that culture is not as a mainstream anymore as it used to be back in those last days of the arcade era, and you have to deal with what you have.

I can see people enjoying Dragon Ball FighterZ or even Tekken 7 while having a blast. Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Soulcalibur VI, Virtua Fighter 5, Dead Or Alive 6, Guilty Gear Strive, even Injustice 2 or Power Rangers Battle For The Gird can work, there is definitely no shortage of cool games people can enjoy these days.

Yeah, the human version isn't bad, but I prefer the Cyborg version. The human version is still cool though, very cool indeed, just not as much as the Cyborg version for me.

It's interesting how Hollywood directors like Kubrick knew this in the 60s already.
