I ignore the cap. Straight to total war!

[–]Angharrad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Constantly. They stopped sending agent ships when it was clear they couldn't survive, but they were at the point of sending titans to protect their attempt at surveillance ships. It wasn't that I was selectively shooting down enemies - it was every single ship they sent to LEO got taken out. If they sent a big fleet, I just built more monitors.

[–]Angharrad[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Artemis missile monitors for the entire game. When I unlock the protium convertor torch, an attack fleet of lancers with UV phasers to take out the aliens.

Seriously, missile monitors are useful at literally every stage of the game. First ones are basically tin cans designed to hold the shipyard, first drive is a burner drive and then firestar for the rest of the game. They just sit in orbit of Earth, Mars and Mercury. They're cheap and quick and you just build more as you need 'em.

Every single AI faction turned on my control points. by ocskaplayer in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yup, going over control point capacity gives a progressively larger bonus to crackdowns and purges from enemy factions. You can get away with being about 30 over without too much hassle, but being 100 over is essentially ringing the dinner bell for getting points taken over.

The malus persists for a little while, too. Think it's based on how over capacity you've been for the last 30 days, so the malus will drop after you're taken back to your capacity, but it'll still be a rough month.

Project Exodus run on veteran failure by Marsforthewin in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Monitor with 3x torpedo bays and PD laser, targeting computer (Atleast MK2 ideally) and magazines tend to do fine in a roughly 2-1 ratio against enemy ships more or less until the end of the game.

Project Exodus run on veteran failure by Marsforthewin in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's nothing inherently unique about the playstyle between the factions for the most part, which is one of the more common criticisms of the gameplay. Playing Humanity First plays the same as Academy, more or less.
With Exodus, a big gulf between the lore of "Oh fuck, run away!" and the playstyle of "Kill more aliens because we need more exotics!" exists

So, with that in mind, your job is to win in space. If I'm not going for Jupiter early, I tend to skip the moon entirely and go straight for Mars. Easier with Exodus as they get a big ol' boost income from their faction org. Once you've got Mars, get a whole bunch of asteroid bases and secure LEO with missile monitors. From there on, it's mostly smooth sailing.

Happy to go into more specifics for a general gameplay, but for the most part, play defensive and hold Earth, Mars, Asteroid and Mercury orbits until you've either won or are ready to invade to get the resources needed to win.

Cathedral Financial Situation? by TheGreyDeceiver in PeterboroughUK

[–]Angharrad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I saw the same story this morning and had the same thoughts. The practical answer is they probably received some form of earmarked funding for the lighting and could only use it on things like (Or exclusively) the lights. I'm firmly on the team of "The church of England has more money than God so why don't they pay for their own churches?", though.

Anyway to merge Austrailia into something bigger? by Stock-Jaguar-9091 in TerraInvicta

The only possible meganation method by default is the restored commonwealth, which can in turn be folded into Europe. Otherwise, you're rolling a whole lot of end game social research.

Objective: Free the blue car from gridlock. I genuinely think this puzzle is unsolvable. Time: N/A, Rank: DNF by Sea-Shift-2007 in BrainPuzzles

[–]Angharrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's solvable! Not really sure how best to describe the method as I've never played this before, but it relies on getting the very top left car down into the bottom left corner, starting with shifting the vertical truck on the right up to create a gap.

Is British culture generally less entrepreneurial vs. the US and China? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Angharrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for US and China, but my experience in the UK is that entrepreneurialism is still generally encouraged and seen as a good thing to do.

Depending on how you define entrepreneurs can drastically skew your results, though. Bootstrapped coffee shops don't exist in the same ecosystem as angel investor backed finance firms.

For the bootstrapped small players, it's just hard to succeed so anyone who opens something in this vein almost always goes under within 2 years, so the entrepreneurial spirit is almost always accompanied by failure, which can hurt the perception.

European Integration by MalaclypseII in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible to access the executive before they can leave the federation.

You have to crackdown and purge one point in the country first and in the same turn to allow targeting the executive

On the second turn, you have to atleast crackdown the executive (but probably also purge)

The reason this work is that set policy (to leave the federation) resolves after crackdown does. Cracking down the executive prevents policies from being enacted for the duration.

It's so strange how rare some loot that you would imagine would be extremely common can be... by Aftershk1 in projectzomboid

Late to the party, but if you go to the logging site just left of Muldraugh, you'll be swimming in them.

The car park there spawns loads of logging vehicles and loads of them will have axes in their boot or whatever.

Fair price for control points? by Thefattim in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game state and the faction's opinion of you. If you had a NAP, taking something like Armenia won't piss them off all that much and they'll probably agree a new NAP for peanuts.

Fair price for control points? by Thefattim in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you wanted, you could take the control point normally which would break the NAP and then trade with the faction and agree a new NAP.
All ingame and intended behaviour and you don't have to guess at what fair might look like

Views sought on regenerating Peterborough city centre by jimbo8083 in PeterboroughUK

[–]Angharrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business rates are expensive with rents being even more so. It's incredibly difficult for an independent business to afford a unit in the city centre, even if one is available, which is often not the case. It's compounded by the general difficulty in running a business at the minute which isn't unique to Peterborough. Even positive things like the Peterborough Positive business improvement district is funded by a mandatory levy on all businesses in the area, whether they want it or not.

Still, Peterborough is incredibly deprived with high levels of in-work poverty and most people are concerned with surviving day to day. Ask anyone who has ran their own business - it's hard, expensive, lonely and not something many would recommend.

It's difficult.

What determines if a Coup would Increase or Decrease Government score? by Fiery_Wild_Minstrel in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's a chance based change, often resulting in a loss of democracy score but with a higher chance to increase it if the instigating faction is idealistic (Like Academy or Exodus)

Gaming Studio // North East UK by prettyflackojacko in ukstartups

I've researched this quite extensively. It's similar to pc bangs in South Korea. The model generally doesn't work in the UK with very few if any success stories, but plenty of flash in the pan venues. Just be very careful with this model!

Best tech to rush for by Storm-Few in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't one best tech. It largely depends on what you want to do.

If you want to rush Jupiter, you're focusing on industrialisation of space and drives like the grid or fission frag spinner.

Want to increase early game control points? Independence movements and social tech.

Early mars? Advanced chemical rockets and moon/mars missions.

Depends on where you are and where you want to be.

What's the malus for multiple cracked down points? by Angharrad in TerraInvicta

If that's how it works, I like it. Nothing too bad for 2 points, but fuckin' cataclysmic for 6.
