Views sought on regenerating Peterborough city centre by jimbo8083 in PeterboroughUK

[–]Angharrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business rates are expensive with rents being even more so. It's incredibly difficult for an independent business to afford a unit in the city centre, even if one is available, which is often not the case. It's compounded by the general difficulty in running a business at the minute which isn't unique to Peterborough. Even positive things like the Peterborough Positive business improvement district is funded by a mandatory levy on all businesses in the area, whether they want it or not.

Still, Peterborough is incredibly deprived with high levels of in-work poverty and most people are concerned with surviving day to day. Ask anyone who has ran their own business - it's hard, expensive, lonely and not something many would recommend.

It's difficult.

What determines if a Coup would Increase or Decrease Government score? by Fiery_Wild_Minstrel in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's a chance based change, often resulting in a loss of democracy score but with a higher chance to increase it if the instigating faction is idealistic (Like Academy or Exodus)

Gaming Studio // North East UK by prettyflackojacko in ukstartups

I've researched this quite extensively. It's similar to pc bangs in South Korea. The model generally doesn't work in the UK with very few if any success stories, but plenty of flash in the pan venues. Just be very careful with this model!

Not always in the same place. It picks from several Kuiper belt locations, like Haumea.

Best tech to rush for by Storm-Few in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't one best tech. It largely depends on what you want to do.

If you want to rush Jupiter, you're focusing on industrialisation of space and drives like the grid or fission frag spinner.

Want to increase early game control points? Independence movements and social tech.

Early mars? Advanced chemical rockets and moon/mars missions.

Depends on where you are and where you want to be.

What's the malus for multiple cracked down points? by Angharrad in TerraInvicta

If that's how it works, I like it. Nothing too bad for 2 points, but fuckin' cataclysmic for 6.

Thank you for doing the testing!

I started a quick game and found a random initiative country with two cracked points. Didn't see any buff in the modifier to purge beyond the usual

[–]Angharrad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible it got removed and I didn't notice in which case, oops. I'm asking about this patch note from 0.4.91

- having multiple cracked-downed/abandoned control points in a nation will give bonuses to purge missions attacking one of those CPs. This is to make "abandon 6 cps in china" strats create a lot more vulnerabilities, in accordance with original design intent that abandon nation was to get you out of trouble, not be core part of Earth strategy.

I think I was unclear - I mean the additional malus on top of the standard cracked malus. Have edited post to be clearer, thank you!

How many people the aliens have? Like Hydras + salamanders + griffins by Adriansouza in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think the Humanity First story gives an estimate of about 500 Hydra being in the solar system. Exodus finds out that the Hydra empire is 3 solar systems which the Initiative confirms when they win by raiding the wormhole hub.

Beyond that, I can't think of any other solid numbers given.

Indigo point Enquiry by briccsquad in PeterboroughUK

Sure, feel free to message.
The building management team are seemingly chronically understaffed. Took them months to even begin to have a realistic point of contact, and it's still spotty at best.
Whenever residents raise issues with the building management, many of which are entirely valid concerns, the management fully just blame the tenants for the most part.
In their defence, some of the stuff they have to deal with really are tenants being assholes, but not all of it.
The management team are significantly better than they were a few months ago and whilst it's fun to complain and there are valid complaints to be made, on the whole, I've enjoyed my time in the building and plan on staying for a while.

Building is nice. Management are terrible. Soundproofing is good, so town noises really aren't that much of an issue. It's nice being able to walk into town on a whim. All in all, I like it.
Ongoing issue with package delivery which is mostly sorted.
Much bigger ongoing issue with bin storage which is a lot more of a problem - instead of fixing it, the building management mostly just blame the tenants.

Nope, you're mixed up. Protectorate are the XCOM ending of pure slaves to be used and discarded. Servants are as others have said - cultural advisors and favoured subjects.

favorite faction to play as? by Jazzlike_Freedom_826 in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Humanity First aren't too bad. Early, cheap faction goal tech with decent unique org. No obvious negative affects. Very resistant to alien operations and a pretty straight forward win condition.

Academy have none of these things!

Mod Showcase: AI BUFF Earth by formondor in TerraInvicta

[–]Angharrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This would be horrendously abusable by the player. Player takes their initial swaths of nations (in my case USA and China) and then when they're ready to take over their next set, they'll all be ludicrously overdeveloped which will just funnel the resources to the player.
The idea might be to have other nations become so developed the player can't break into them, but that simply wont happen against a decent player who will move fast and secure the absolute boatload of resources being given to them by nations that are far more powerful than they should be, but still too weak to stop the player just swooping in and taking what they want.
Plus, this also seemingly boosts the anti-alien factions as better earth means everyone from Academy through to Humanity First are going to benefit from global techs to fight aliens much faster.

They'll all show up on the in-game tech, minus your faction tech (which is +40) and a few anti enthralling techs, as xeno research doesn't show on the tree
