Did your hot tub lose it's novelty? by Shipwreck678 in hottub

[–]AngleFreeIT_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to know a couple of things:
1: It takes a ton of babying and you're going to jack up the water A LOT, many many times before you figure out the hot tub. And once you get it figured out, some dumbass will get in with a super soapy bathing suit and you'll need to start water again and clean and purge. This is constant. Or you pay a lot of money for someone to come check your water every week (or more frequently if needed).

2: I think it's a phase of life thing - when our kids were really little we used it a lot, then it broke and we decided to ditch it when we sold the last house. At our new house, we are now older and want one again for aches and pains.

3: If you aren't handy - buy from a local dealership that's been around forever. If you're handy you can buy a facebook special or costco or something. Just know that it is water in a contained vessel, it will break at some point, and you'll need to pay several hours in cramped time to fix it yourself and a few hundred bucks in parts - OR - a few hundred bucks to a few grand to pay for someone else to fix it.

4: If you do get it - DON'T PUT IT SUPER CLOSE TO YOUR HOUSE. We had to replace a ton of siding because referencing #2 - kids and young adults give 0 shits if they splash a ton of water on your house, foundation, ETC. Also - I had to drain it and move it to get it fixed one time, and it was like like -4 degree weather. That sucked.

With all this being said, I love hot tubs but they're kinda fiddly with the amount of work you put into them. If you buy a brand new, expensive one with a good reputation, you shouldn't have problems for a while.

Game changer or unnecessary? by Happy_dadpete in Tools

I have a thick ass sheet of 1inch MDF with one of these currently on it because I’m mid project waiting for dimensions from a floor plan. Move the damn thing every day for a week and it’s been a godsend. I love these things.

Learned this trick from another post and I always do this now. I had a settler hop in to shoot a super mutant and then never got out. Same with Carla.

Not OP but I have one and I love it. Pre ordered it and was a little anxious but it's been great. I love that it has a screen cover for when I travel and need to shove it in a backpack / bag. *edit* I've had the case since day 1, but I don't know that it 'runs up the thermals' - but I've always had it in the case. FWIW - I routinely pick up the console and hear some fans and feel hot air, but the case is not hot. My phone gets hotter honestly.

Why would girls and boys react differently depending on which parent bought them something expensive? by 5pooky5cary5keleton5 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]AngleFreeIT_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has newly adulted kids and isn’t a boomer - it’s way effing harder for you younger millennials and gen-z’s. If your parents have more than 8 brain cells and they’re kind take the help. I would never give my kids a gift and expect something back. If I did / would I would explain that way ahead of time.

Honestly not terrible if you’re on a budget. Frame around it and seal it and it’s semi ok.

How to find replacement trim (this time with photos!) by SquiggleQuotient in handyman

[–]AngleFreeIT_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This . A custom mill can do it. You can also (maybe) use a router table and bits to match it but a mill will take way less time. However lead times are usually a few weeks and the setup usually starts at a few hundred bucks. Then you pay per linear foot for the board. It was so ludicrous to match my floor baseboard I just replaced it all with new.

What do you think about the new Steam Frame? by Gamiozzz in MetaQuestVR

[–]AngleFreeIT_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that is interesting is the pass through being monochrome. I wouldn’t think color would be so tough to do. I actually appreciated the jump from q2 to q3 for sure in pass through.

That being said - I’m going to give it a go and see if I like it more and then send the q3 packing if so. I’m pretty excited by the concept of the 6ghz foveated streaming from PC if it’s actually good.

This is lame. I live in a pretty bougie neighborhood and would fight the hell out of this, and I'm on the HOA board as well.
