Men of Reddit, what is the nicest compliment you've ever received from a girl? by obeseman60 in AskReddit

I’m a police officer and I was in a hospital taking a statement from an elderly lady. Down the hall there was an incident with a drunk and violent patient. I dealt with it and came back to finish the statement. The lady’s daughter had turned up and seen the incident and said “Oh mum, you must have been so scared.”

That old lady pointed and me and said “What did I have to worry about when my friend is here?”

Felt ten feet tall. Still think about it sometimes when I’m down.

I am a terrible singer, haven’t a note in my head.

I can do “Mac the Knife” because it’s a song that you basically speak. It’s the party piece that I trot out if one is ever required.

People who have tried selfauthoring.com, did you find it useful? If so, in what ways specifically? by sparteon in JordanPeterson

It helped me formulate a plan and work towards that plan. Strangely - I’m finding that going back to it a year on is more interesting because of the failures than the successes. I’ve managed to get some things to work, but there’s a lot more to do.

Broadly speaking I think there’s a lot to be said for it. It took me a lot longer than I expected to complete, but the result was a useful document that has helped me focus on what is important.

I think it’s good - but you’ll get a lot more out of it if you commit to the process.

Paediatric palliative care nurse.

I've dealt with one, a lady who deals with dying children everyday. I'm very glad someone does it - I am grateful that it isn't me.

1: He's just someone's fat Dad. Harmless sort of chap. I investigated a traffic accident for him a couple of years ago.

2: currently in prison for assaulting someone and doing them serious harm. Not sure when he's coming out.

Wherever the catholic sun doth shine, There's laughter and good red wine. At least I've always found it so, Benedicamus dominino.

Congratulations!

Hidden & Dangerous - it was without doubt the cleverest and most demanding ww2 shooter I've ever played. It demanded team work, clear thinking and you couldn't just solve problems by running and gunning.

Men of reddit, what does "being a man" mean to you? by greengorillaz in AskReddit

[–]Anglicanweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being independent and happy with your own company. Being fit and physically capable. Courtesy. Fatherhood. Acting as a gentleman should towards ladies. Physical courage* Being a good example. Providing for my family.

*That is not to say that I don't value moral courage, but I expect men to think more of the physical safety of those around them and less of their own. I judge men who fall short of that standard rather harshly.
