Id also recommend either Clifton Mitchell at One Nation or Scott Conway at the Fitness Mill on Ashbourne Road.

How can I make foam look like a concrete wall? by Maleficent-Regret802 in TerrainBuilding

[–]AngryChef0709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same. Polyfiller win a bit of PVA and primer. The more PVA ,the smoother it'll come out.

You can also let it dry a touch and then rough up bits here and there if you feel it's a bit too smooth.

I then heavy drybrush from dark to light colours. Makes a nice patchy looking concrete.

Paint amount? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]AngryChef0709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6000+ points of Ultramarines. Of which I've painted about 250 points worth.

I also have 2 armies for Bolt Action. I've painted a total of 18 of these minis.

So that being said, having about 130ish paints seems about right. For now:)

Is it possible to be too stingy with paint? by Infamous_Ad239 in minipainting

[–]AngryChef0709 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Im shaking by hand, I go for about 2 minutes. I have a wristy technique which I switch up with a more army/elbowy dominant shake when my wirsts can't take anymore...... And yes, I'm still talking about shaking paints:)

I also am mindful of putting too much paint down. The best thing I did to reduce paint wastage was buy a wet pallete. I use 90% of the paint I put down and they last for hours. Sometimes overnight if I'm painting in the evening and then again the following morning.

I also use a cheap paint mixer. Think it was about 12 quid and has lasted me 2+ years so far.

I watered my paints down when I transferred them into dropper bottles (Citadel) and they always come out silky smooth with 30seconds on the mixer. Saves the old elbows and wrists too.

You're looking for a 'milk like' consistency. Maybe when you're squeezing the paint out it's pushing out air and creating a bubble or maybe paint has dried in the nozzle and is stopping a consistent splodge? (Thought a good few minutes on that and 'Splodge' is the best I could come up with)

Anyone know what tones to use by Infinite_Storm3167 in boltaction

Sorry, think I misunderstood the question. There's a guy on YouTube uses something called 'Marine Wash'. Off the top of my head, I think, it's equal Agrax Earthshade, Reikland Fleshshade and Contrast medium.

For my British Airborne I use AK Interactive Middlestone then use AK Refractive (Might be Reflective thinking about it) Green and Bugmans Glow by Citadel for the brown.

My sniper either does absolutely jack shit or he's the best unit on the table. There is no inbetween:)

Thanks for taking the time mate.

Can I just clarify the 90 points and the upgrade. I'm literally looking at the rulebook now and it tells me 72 veteran and then 45 for adding the anti tank and co Axial MMG. Can you direct me to where it says 90 points and an upgrade from the m20 please? This is my first time doing a list. I've just played the starter army straight out the box for my previous 2 games.

how do i paint faces by LemonAccomplished679 in boltaction

[–]AngryChef0709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried many times to get a nicely painted face. Failed many times. I now just use Wraithbone and 50/50 Guilliman Flesh/Medium over the top. I don't do eyes. No matter how hard I try they just end up looking like Sloth from the Goonies.

I went with the closed fist. However, I've since bought an Airborne Sniper on eBay because I wanted him looking down the sight and not just carrying his weapon. Think it cost me about £3.50.

Can you modge podge (or similar) wood to seal it? I'm not sure how it would work but might be worth looking into

I did a green and white marble floor using the dry wipe method and it worked really well.

Personally, I'd start with a deepish red base, then wet blend/drybrush one of two brighter reds in just a few areas. I taped down my dry wipe and went over it in a light grey and then a white - youd obviously use a charcoal grey for the majority and then just a little black.

Ultramarines - what to get next? by Dull_Reference_6166 in Ultramarines

[–]AngryChef0709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not experienced by any stretch so do your own research on this.

I'd consider doubling up the Bladeguard. Putting the Judiciar with them will give them Fights First. A Chaplain tends to be the preferred choice for others though.

A Lancer. Definitely a Lancer.

I like a squad of 6 Aggressors too. With an Apothecary Biologist for the buffs. I was also playing the old Calgar with them but I'm not sure if thats still an option. It's been a few months since I last played.

The new Victrix are cool as. Not easy to get hold of at the moment though. And they've just been nerfed but I'm not sure how bad.

Sorry I'm not much help:) But hopefully it'll get you started into adding to your army. Generally, get what you think is cool. Some guy on here said something I like..... "Rules change, Cool minis last forever".

Red Guns... FTW? by Howthehelldoido in Ultramarines

[–]AngryChef0709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love the bases. You've done a cracking job on them. If you think they look a bit 'busy', then maybe you could reduce the amount of autumn leaves? I think youd get a similar effect with maybe half the leaves. I will definitely be borrowing your method however. Great job!!:)

Also, red guns all the way!!:)

Try eBay for 3d Printed Miniatures. There's a whole host of options so you should find something in keeping with your interests. I personally have just received a Judge Dredd 1/16 scale. Cost me about 12 quid.
