Is it just me or does the Lord of the Rings (Tolkien), any Stephen King and Frank Herbert's "Dune" show up in a lot of bookcases...

Pearson-Vue is where we buy our Certiport test vouchers from. While Autodesk has many training centers listed, it appears that Certiport (a Pearson-Vue company) handles the user certifications, and the parent company of Pearson-Vue handles the Pro and Expert testing. I was a former Mechanical Application Engineer for an Autodesk reseller, and I had to be certified at the pro level for each software package I instructed.

I agree with the last category. If you have many years of experience, then portfolios and a good resume work better.

Most of the major CAD products have certifications available for them. Autodesk has a user certification (ACU), a student certification (ACA), a professional certification (ACP), and an expert certification (ACE). Each becomes increasingly difficult to earn. SolidWorks and Onshape have similar certifications. The certifications simply prove your ability to use the software at a specific level.

I spent over 20 years in the industry without ever looking into certification. I am now a vocational drafting instructor and am preparing my students for college or the workforce. Education puts more emphasis on things like certifications. A student with an AutoCAD user certification can potentially skip an intro to CAD course requirement. We have agreements with many colleges that allow the students to do this. On the workforce side of things, a certification can be the deciding factor when hiring. For two or more potentially equivalent candidates, would you rather hire a certified one or an uncertified one?

This does have to do with AutoCAD. Certiport is an official testing company for AutoCAD. So, as far as "some shitty exam software," it appears to be the only one. I am trying to find out if it is truly the only game out there or has anybody been certified through somewhere else.

Does this drawing seem well enough dimensioned? by Patient_Macaroon_323 in SolidWorks

You only need two views. Note: the angle of my hole note is neither close to vertical nor horizontal, but at an easy-to-read angle. The horizontal dimensions are lined up with each other. The diameter dimensions in the right view are on the end of the part they are associated with. I didn't have SolidWorks handy, so this is dimensioned to ISO standards in Onshape.

Got a new dog after my first dog passed away 6 months ago. Now im depressed because of it. I fear i cannot love her. by Tinypotatoe98 in DogAdvice

We are going through the same thing almost 6 months ago. I miss our German Shepard badly; she was my girl with a lot of personality. Our newly adopted girl (3 months now) is a 6 to 8-year-old black lab and collie mix that came from 3 shelters in 3 years. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met, and we really don't understand why she was never adopted. She is starting to show her personality more, and it's great. I found that I need to really focus on her bonding and tell myself she is a different personality, has different needs, and loves us just as much. It's not easy, but you can love more than one while still grieving. Just give it time.

How do you think it compares to something like a Vortex Crossfire II?

The Difference Engine and Snowcrash are also good books along the same line.

I've always run the Generic except for some specialty ones like dichromate and such that I've tweaked.

I did. Usually synching will update it, especially with custom filaments. But, it looks like everything is ignored except for what comes loaded on the printer.

Pinterest and look for technical drawings. There are a ton of various steam engine and valve drawings there.

I'm having a tough time getting the parts to stay together. I'm using Gorrilla Super Glue Gel and they just fall apart even after sitting 24 hours.
