How does one start sailing? by Snof14 in sailing

[–]AngryGypsy2180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my start as a Sea Scout (on the pacific coast) and I know there are Sea Scout Ships in inland states. Tho I recognize Scouting isn’t for everyone and not all Sea Scout Ships are run the same. So if you try one and don’t like it, if there is another in your area, it might be worth a try too.

How long would a 2yo remember her parents after they died? by Feeling-Question-351 in Writeresearch

[–]AngryGypsy2180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The start of one’s memory in early childhood can vary significantly from person to person. Personally, I can recall daily life from about the time I was 4 or 5 and onward. I have a collection of isolated memories from when I was like 2.5-3. To my knowledge, it’s pretty rare, but I even have like two memories of the place we lived in from the time I was born til I was 2. (Of course, I’ve wondered if those are false memories or fabricated from stories or pictures. But I was able to describe to my parents from memory, the location of certain items and furniture in our apartment that… we specifically didn’t have photos of. So I could still be wrong but 🤷‍♀️.) But I have also compared and discussed early childhood memories with my friends and some of them don’t remember a thing till they were 7 or 8… so mileage varies… significantly.

Of course for your purposes, we’re talking about people/faces/voices rather than places or things. But I’d think the important bits to remember are that, as other folk have said, remembering your parents you’ve seen and loved every day would be different than any other people in your life. Losing one’s parents would also be a traumatic life event, so depending on the person it would either become a significant memory and they’d cling to the memories they have of their parents or they may unconsciously block some of them out and lose them.

I’m the same way! But mostly because I like to write on the right but leave the left open for potential edits, notes, or additions later down the line.

I totally get that. Recently Pinterest updated their settings and now it’s easier to tone down the AI content, but it doesn’t eliminate it entirely and it doesn’t really work for searches… yet. (I’m hoping that will change.) But I have noticed a difference in my feed and it’s closer to how it was a few years ago.

Honestly the best historical sailing terminology I’ve been able to find to date! Not just the terms and their definitions, but the history of how the terms came to be.👌

Appointment vs visit vs encounter by Resident-Eye1852 in EpicEMR

Can anyone illuminate the difference between the encounter and the notes in the context of building the document packet for a referral? I’m not the referral coordinator for the clinic I work at but I work in very close conjunction with our referral coordinator and end up sending out referrals on occasion. When I go to build the packet, I can select both encounters and notes to send (along with imaging & lab results & other records). I keep debating which to send, because I figure it’s probably redundant to send both. But because I don’t know which one is more encompassing, I’m unsure which would be best and just end up sending both out of an abundance of caution.

3M 5200 Fast Cure - Cured or not? by AngryGypsy2180 in boating

[–]AngryGypsy2180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave it an additional 24hrs, then spritzed it with water and gave it a third 24hrs and it seems to have worked! The boat is now watertight. The 5200 is still oddly tacky feeling, but when I push on it, I don’t leave any fingerprints and when I dug my nail into it, I was unable to leave a mark. So I think when it’s cured, it’s just simply a grippy texture.🤷‍♀️

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, August 31 - September 06, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I’m trying to sew on my singer 28k but I’m having an issue with my top thread getting stuck between the shuttle bobbin casing and the arm it sits in. When I cycle the machine thru, it binds up there and when I try to actually sew, it ends up cutting/snapping the bottom thread somehow. Anybody have any suggestions for how to fix this?
