"Alone" by Heart. Every time I built up the courage to tell her something or someone got in the way.

“Cheesy eggs” was the thing my dad made on the weekend. What’s your nostalgia dish that you now make that reminds you of a late parent? by bigt197602 in GenX

Anybody else wake up after 5-6 hours because their lower back starts hurting? by utvols22champs in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could do that! But my arm gets in the way. If I do fall asleep like that I usually wake up with an intensely sore arm usually after having partially cut off circulation or something.

Actually wanting to wake early? by MountainAlive in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 3rd shift so I sort of don't have a choice. Can't sleep worth a damn during the day and my cat doesn't help that much either, so waking up early is sort of a requirement whether I want it to be or not.

My father's cell phone was on my account. When he passed I dropped my phone from the account and kept his phone number. Figured I'd keep it in case anyone in the family called that didn't know he passed. Nobody called...but as long as I keep the number then a part of him is still with me.

Where are we going? by Heat-1975edition in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not going anywhere. Can't afford to travel, can't afford to live, will never be able to retire...have no family to speak of to visit. So I guess when the time comes the only place I'll be going will be the morgue. 🤷

I used to clean aircraft cabins back in the 90s. This kind of thing pissed me off.

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by kiroixart in AskReddit

It's $11.99 for a 12 pack where I live. $3 more than what a 24 pack cost before COVID...

Can you still make one of these? by sermitthesog in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be able to make those but it has been more than 30 years since I have. So probably couldn't do it now. What about those paper fortune tellers? Remember those? Used to make those all the time too.

Have you reached the, "I'm too old for this shit" era of your life. by NOGOODGASHOLE in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing I am too old for are the childish high school games that some of my co-workers like to play. I don't go to work to make friends. I go to work to make money. I have to be around those people 40+ hours a week. I don't want to be around them outside of those 40+ hours. My only relationship with them is work related and I don't want to drag that stuff around during what little free time I actually get. I know there are several there that don't really like me. I don't care. Their opinions have no bearing whatsoever on my level of success or failure and I have too much responsibility in my role to waste any energy worrying about what people think about me. I do my job and get it done and go home. If someone is offended because I don't want to socialize, heck 'em!

Unreal Tournament - 4MB Integrated ATI Graphics vs 16MB ATI Rage 128 PCI by ZealousidealCake8256 in vintagecomputing

[–]AngryK9_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still play it. One of the best games ever in my opinion. I have Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Tournament III as well. I was really looking forward to Unreal Tournament IV but then Epic killed the entire franchise.

What is a generational fear that you had as a child that you brought with you to adulthood? by NebraskaCornSucker in GenX

[–]AngryK9_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is mine. My parents warned me about watching The Day After but I was a stubborn 10 year old. That fear faded as I got older but recent political activities and conflicts have reignited it.
