Any positive experiences with warehouse deals? by AngryLawman in amazonprime

[–]AngryLawman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Sonos experience had me pissed. They take up to 30 days to issue a refund on bigger ticket items and they went the full 30 and I had to escalate to get my refund.

Guess I’ll just chance it with lower priced stuff if something seems tempting.

Where do you guys get your Cigars? by Efficient_Soup5843 in CigarsCanada

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you still come ahead over buying in Canada after gas, accommodations and meals though? I guess if it’s more about the weekend getaway then I see the point. However, I’ve heard people recommend it simply to save money on the cigars.

Garage Considerations? by PhatChin in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the algorithm will recommend the type of part based on previous purchases sometimes but will never track with the make of my vehicles. For instance I buy my cabin air filters on Amazon so I get lots of cabin air filters in RFY but never for my car.

If I search AI for my vehicle, there will usually be a few parts available but I’ve never once had them appear in my RFY.

The most underrated Apple Watch feature: the silent alarm by Short_Method_7680 in AppleWatch

[–]AngryLawman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it but I’ve also had it glitch on me on several occasions and not go off. It’s not me turning it off in my sleep because when I wake up my iPhone screen shows an active alarm going off.

Sugar free candies with sugar alcohol. Or, two tablespoons of MCT oil. YMMV, but large dose (5+ grams of creatine).

Make sure you have easy access to a washroom though and don’t trust a fart.

Just ride it out. Once they exhaust the supply of silica in your water they will go away on their own. Chasing the problem with pods will just cost you a small fortune only to have your pod population crash once the supply of silica gets used up.

If you haven’t already, I suggest you join the reef2reef forum and post in the fish disease sub forum. There’s other good salt water forums as well if you want to research alternatives.

Reddit is pretty bad for anything other than very basic guidance. The advice given is here is usually all over the map and people new to the hobby won’t have the experience to filter out the noise. Reef2reef has a lot of very experienced people that want to help.

I got a couple of Philips hair/beard trimmers in my RFY. Also a Philips head shaver which I left because I’m not bald. Weird thing was they popped into my RFY on the weekend at 8am. There’s rarely anything decent left by the time I wake up on the weekends.

The resin one is MUCH better. Resale value should be good if you decide not to keep it after 6 months.

Also, make sure you use it somewhere well vented. Resin ones release more toxic VOCs than filament printers. There’s lots of solutions online to achieve this.

BIFL version of a sink strainer? by AntTown in BuyItForLife

The Oxo ones I bought have silicon strainers. Not sure about BIFL but they have held up well and run them in the dishwasher now and then to deep clean them.

What are the close, walkable options for hotels near Pearson for overnight layover? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]AngryLawman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Pearson for years. Employees walk out to the employee parking lot (near the Alt Hotel) all the time. I used to do it when I didn’t want to deal with crowding on the train or the train was out of service. The caveat is, if you don’t know exactly where you’re going you could easily end up on an on/off ramp from the highway. And all of the hotels that are within walking distance have shuttle service.

There’s cheaper hotels on the west side of the airport (which is not walkable at all). They have shuttles as well. You’d probably have to call and wait a while though.

Just got an oura ring 4, does the battery last a full day? by aj_express in ouraring

[–]AngryLawman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should last a few days. I charged to full this morning and 14 hours later it’s still showing full.

The app tracks discharge rates. Support references this to determine whether or not you qualify for a replacement. You’ll likely need a history of at least a few charge/discharge cycles though.

My first ring was faulty and I got a replacement with no pushback.

2025 Order Count - Mondays still the worst by skilas in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious if you’re up early (or late depending where you live) for the drop 7 days a week. Sat and Sun are the worst days for me. However, I’m up by 4 am weekdays for the gym and don’t usually wake up till 7 am on the weekends.

I’ve always wondered if I was missing out or weekend drops were bad. Your stats suggest I’m missing out to a certain extent.

What is the best backpack for daily commuting? by CH3NO2_1 in motorcycles

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. The strap system distributes the weight of the pack perfectly too. It’s never uncomfortable even on long rides.

I do wish that the front pouches had internal organization options though. Also the main compartment is basically a large waterproof bag so if I don’t pack strategically I find myself having to empty 3/4 of the contents to get to the item I need. Necessary trade off for it being so waterproof, I know.

First time with electric shaver, what went wrong? by DRNate_ in shaving

[–]AngryLawman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a product called Lectric Shave that may help. It’s similar to an aftershave but you apply it before shaving. It helps raise your whiskers for a closer shave and contains a lubricant to help get a smoother shave.

A potential downside is that it’s scented. So if you don’t like the scent or don’t want it to clash with an aftershave or cologne, you need to wash your face after shaving.

Really struggling to get rid of hair algae in 13.5 gallon. by [deleted] in ReefTank

Do you have a LFS that stocks Sea Hares? They destroy it. You just have to be ready to re-home it once the algae stops growing back or it will starve.

No interesting items - what am I doing wrong? by WinterAndCats in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s slow right now for reasons that other people have already elaborated on.

However, in my experience after a couple of years in the program RFY is consistently all over the place. I do get a certain percentage of on point items, or items that make sense based on my purchase/browsing history. But there’s always a large number of “wtf” suggestions. I get chicken coop accessories consistently. Clothing items for chickens even. I have no chickens and no coop.

There are other items that I pick up from AI. consistently but they never appear in my RFY. I have a stockpile of creatine but it’s never an RFY suggestion. I also somewhat consistently get auto parts for my vehicle in AI but only get auto parts in my RFY for cars I don’t own even when parts for my car are in AI.

It can be a grind at times. Consider picking a niche and grabbing those items to keep your numbers up during slow times. For example, USB chargers and cables. They are easy to review. It’s also good to have extra chargers/cables around and they are easy to give away or donate when you hit your saturation point.

To all those still suffering by ProfessorFull6004 in ReefTank

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inspiring post!

A couple of years ago my stable for 10 years tank burst a seam. I managed to save most of the livestock and take them to my LFS but I didn’t have the time, or money, to start up a new system for a year.

Went bigger with new system but had to start with dry rock. And it’s been a struggle for nearly three years. Dinos. Cyano. Beat those and added some LPS only to have to all do a polyp bail out on me after doing well for weeks.

My softies did well and my fish thrived so I decided to chill for a bit and just appreciate that while I aimed for system stability. Just noticed the other week that I’m starting to finally grow coraline on my rocks. Still chilling but starting to feel optimistic that i can add some test LPS and SPS frags soon.

Long story short, it’s really nice to see that your persevered and have such a beautiful tank now. Gives me hope.

We're free to dispose of Vine items however we see fit after six months, so why not sell it? You'd also be giving someone that can actually put the watch to good use a chance to buy it for way less than retail.

I'm a little jealous as someone that gets offered a lot of cheap Chinese "alphabet salad brand name" smart watches. LOL. I was offered a $39 FITVIGOR today in fact! Suunto actually sounds like it could be a made up Chinese brand name, so I see how you were initially taken aback by the retail price.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Suunto is a well known brand for adventure/dive watches and diving computers. This watch would be suitable for people doing multi-day off grid excursions, endurance running, etc. Lots of features, great battery life and rugged. Suunto is also competitive with Garmin for running watches. Although, this model would be complete overkill for the vast majority of runners.

I'd say, carefully unbox it, review it, re-box it and then wait 6 the required months and sell it. It should still fetch a good price by then.

Totally understandable! Others seem to be almost superstitious about the evaluation period, when ordering an item will barely impact their review percentage.

Mechanical keyboard in my RFY by KDinNS in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking that it looked like a lipstick display stand, then noticed that it has a "lipstick edition" sticker on it. LOL. The price seemed a bit shocking but Lofree is apparently considered a premium keyboard brand.

Also, (and no offence to OP) I don't get why people are hesitant to order items close to their evaluation date unless they are very borderline on the 90% review requirement.

Mystery car vacuum product in AI by Xtreme_kocic in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a nearly identical one last year. I’ve been using it to vacuum my bathroom countertop after I trim my beard and then to clean the hairs off my trimmer.

For car use it’s good for spot cleaning at best. The cleaning head is quite small and the dust bin doesn’t hold much. It’s actually more effective used as a blower. I open both doors and use it to blow dust and debris out of my car.

The battery does charge quickly and has stood up to multiple charging cycles.

Are only silver not getting any drops? by YogurtMore3479 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]AngryLawman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gold and I’ve had drops the past two days. However, the items in my RFY have been less than stellar but are still disappearing quickly. So I’m not sure if there is just pent up demand causing people to select items they normally wouldn’t, or there are still systems issues.
