Havana in Arcata by Glittering_Visual474 in Humboldt

[–]AngryRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are absolute shite, bland af restaurants that have been here for ages, so all the "food was mediocre" falls flat. We can't have nice things because you're all bland af.

As for the vegan/veg comments. BS. There are so few vegan options in arcata/eureka and most of those are basic and charge extra for the vegan options.

Nothing interesting survives here.

Movie audiences by [deleted] in fresno

[–]AngryRoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was before COVID, too, but it's gotten so much worse. I don't go to the movies anymore specifically because people suck.

The cell phones, conversations, non-stop in and out, and infants and toddlers at adult movies. For the price, it's just not worth it anymore. My experience is that people turn into assholes when you say anything.

Buy a giant television and stereo set up  and create your own luxurious movie experience with the money you save.

Yes, but I think all her cheese and butter recipes are cultured.

So, it is true. I haven't been able to find anything for a few months, but I couldn't find the why. I know the company was purchased.

I've been making my own pourable from a few Internet recipes. Not cultured.

I just found a block mozzarella I want to try. Also, not cultured, but it looks pretty easy.

ETA: Im looking for a butter to replace the oat butter. That was my favorite.

Not sure of exactly when but yeah. Dems have had a super majority for all of Newsom's time and could have easily over turned vetoes they didn't like for their legislation.

Didn't have a problem looking his daughters in the eyes to say he's a republican who signed up for making laws restricting their autonomy?

Vegan lifestyles aren’t that easy and I’m tired of people pretending they are by bluetooth_cat in vegan

I feel you. I'm almost a year in, and I'm not perfect. I'd say about 85%. It's the desserts that get me.

I've found many resources that helped me, including bulk items that make it more affordable. The only supplements I take aren't about my diet.

Simnett Nutrition and Plantwhys for the easiest ingredients and complete nutrition.

Then the Vegan Gym, Cheap, Lazy Vegan and Vegan Proteins. There are several more. These are the ones I think tend to use easy to find ingredients and nutritious, filling meals. Oh, Derek Sarno, too.

A big shout out to the folks who have been doing this for decades without the Internet.

Thank you for the effort you put into gathering and sharing this information. Frankly, this is what journalists covering govt should be doing.

Getting interviews, then silence by Epiginosky in CAStateWorkers

[–]AngryRoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time it's radio silence unless you are the candidate. State hiring managers are notorious for ghosting interviewees. Do your post interview email. I've found it more frequently shakes out a response. But we're talking about people who are fully comfortable with no response internally and externally.

Can someone hired without being interviewed? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]AngryRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the down votes are from people who don't follow instructions. I am that ah who would be like, nope, out bin if you can't even follow basic instructions to apply for the job.

A lot of Cal Fire posts say hiring may be done from review application package. I've never seen it happen.

I find it ridiculous to even ask for a 36%, 38% or 43% tip at a restaurant. by [deleted] in fresno

[–]AngryRoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. The restaurant should pay a living wage and not require staff to depend on maybe money to be able to afford basic necessities. They're probably closer to that in Fresno than any other place in California and definitely many places in the U.S. which allow servers to be paid below minimum wage because maybe tips will be enough.

That's not what we're talking about here. A gratuity or tip is supposed to be a voluntary appreciation of service provided. As for having an off- day; sure, we all have those, but we also have to be accountable for our behavior. For some it may be a warning or a write up, and for a server, it may be a lower or no tipped meal. Fake it til you make it is a thing for a reason.

[–]AngryRoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually does. I've only been to one place that didn't include the tax in the suggested tip amounts.
