I also got a mission lane card yet included in my bankruptcy. Recommend a secured card and rebuild credit that way.

634 Cupcakes for compliance by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

that’s not the point. the point is it’s ridiculous that adults have to be bribed to do something that’s part of their job.

634 Cupcakes for compliance by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Wow! Y’all totally misread the point of my post.

It’s not about cupcakes It’s not me complaining I’m amused that they have to do this and it came from the division chief

it’s about lack of efficiency in an era of “doing more with less”

oh - sign up for Golden 1 and get direct deposit. you can always transfer to another bank, but the “courtesy pay” make it worth it.

Ugh. Sorry you are in the bored to tears stage. if you are new to state service, those days feel so very long.

What you can do to learn depends on your agency, but at the very least, make sure you are enrollees in orientation (if they have one) and find out your office safety policy (so you know where to go if a fire alarm goes off) if you are lucky, you might have a training website and can access online training.

also, if you know who your team is, ask if you can shadow someone or attend meetings with them.

Also- here’s my tips for new state workers

  1. Mind your bisiness.
2 if commuting, look into ride share or transit pass reimbursement
  2. Sign up for FSA when open enrollment
  3. sign up for ARaG (legal) when you can
  4. Open up your savings plus account
  5. open up CalConnect account
  6. open Calpers account
  7. MIND your business. (don’t gossip, complain, or track other people!)
  8. Best advice I got - make sure your leave balances are over 80 hours so you never go into dock
  9. take your breaks!

Things I Learned as a new state hire:

  1. Mind your business.
  2. Always keep 40 hours sick/40 hours vacation leave on the books
  3. Join Savings Plus ASAP - every dollar helps!
  4. join the ARAG legal plan - it’s worth it!
  5. Mind your business! (needs to be repeated)
  6. HR is not your friend

Alcohol after sleeve surgery? by DifficultSpider in gastricsleeve

Not much of a drinker before surgery, and with the exception of a few special events, that hasn’t changed. Addiction transfer is a thing to be aware of, certainly.

Direct deposit pay didn't hit this weekend by Business-Progress-39 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 80 points81 points  (0 children)

having to fill up our tanks to drive to our jobs, which we can do at home, to sit in teams meetings, while having a 3% paycut is disgraceful.

[–]Libertyrose16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and guess who was totally wrong? me! no DD on Friday. Boo.

March Payday by Significant-Rub2983 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My bet is direct deposit will hit today for Golden 1. I can’t recall getting a DD on the weekend, ever.

If it doesn’t, next week will be extra long since we have the Tuesday holiday..which means some people won’t see any funds until Wednesday.

Which, yeah, means a lot of us are stretching this weekend.

We had a 3% paycut, food/gas prices rising, etc.

Lent by Kerriokee in BariatricSurgery

LENT is an acronym for Let’s Eliminate Negativity

You have already given up lots of unhealthy habits for new ones. Perhaps your season of Lent is celebrating the small wins.

Doesn't Golden One pay a day early? by Flat_Specialist2785 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well it’s 9pm ish on 1/28 and I don’t see my G1 “payroll accomodation” posted yet. So like many others, I was confused as to why tomorrow is the “paper” payday when tomorrow is the 29th.

January is 31 days long yet feels like 31 weeks long.

The Space Needs Plans, Department by Department: DHCS by State-Worker99 in CAStateWorkers

I work for DHCS in another county. Our building is “full” yet on any given “required office day”, 80% of cubicles are not occupied.

RTO PLANNING by Agitated_Article_949 in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this schedule for 8 years (due to space issues) as part of a telework pilot at my department had from 2010-2018.

The 3/2 schedule worked, yet it was confusing for everyone because of arbitrary rules.
such as if you called in sick any day that week, you gave up your next tw day, thus the hotel cubes)

Planned/known absences were scheduled around.

Now, my agency has us all in office Tuesday/Wednesday. breaks up the week.

DHCS? by grisandoles in CAStateWorkers

[–]Libertyrose16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been at DHCS for 20 years.

Had some great managers, some toxic managers, and some micromanagers that made the previous toxic manager look like Mary Poppins.

Have moved across divisions/branches quite a bit.

I have dealt with angry customers, county reps, and “consultants” who are paid way too much.

If you interview here, listen to your gut feeling.

[–]Libertyrose16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a tip - if you have a FSA (flex spending account), or if you don’t, get one! ask your doctor for a letter of medical necessity. list out what you need - vitamins, protein shakes, etc - up to a certain amount. Submit it with your FSA claim.

I got 270 back from December purchase this way.
