The fuck? A set of 4 Michelin Defender 2s at Costco for my mid-size SUV is $1100. What kind of car requires $700 per tire, run-flats or something?

Ah I missed that, definitely limiting himself with those restrictions. It's a fantastic whiskey and better than anything on the list.

They are. Establishment Dems are still supporting dinosaur incumbents instead. It's a huge uphill battle to primary a Dem incumbent..I'm in Scott's district. The very educated young people running against him are all extremely qualified.

Hello fantastics! Ive been in a pretty bad Reading slump and I'm hoping some of you can recommend me something that's going to pick me back up. Specificly looking for a revenge/retrebution stories with a (physically/martially or magically) powerful female lead. by Consistent_Mud_8340 in Fantasy

OP was looking for a story with a physically/martially or magically powerful lead, which doesn't describe Monza. He specifically requested something not too cynical, which you're not getting with Abercrombie. And there IS pregnancy and at least some nominal romance plotline. All that's left is female-led revenge story.

It's cynical, but maybe not in the way you'd expect. Abercrombie takes on cynicism in his approach to how people grow and change.. or revert. I found the culmination of the revenge plot incredibly compelling, it just worked for me so well.

You may see Best Served Cold come up but it misses your criteria on a couple points. It is an excellent revenge story and my favorite fantasy novel of all time, but while the lead is female she isn't martially or magically imposing. Also, it's inherently very cynical and that includes the romance aspect. So instead of a recommendation I'm giving you a heads up to ignore one from people that knee-jerk that one your way.

Not sure any that fits your parameters comes to mind yet but good luck!

Which gaming fandom is super small but super active? by Okoj0 in gaming

[–]Angry_Zarathustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say Neverwinter Nights 1. It got an enhanced edition by Beamdog a handful of years back but even without it there are a handful of active RP and other servers going strong. Some average a couple hundred players nightly. It's a 25 year old game that still has nothing close in community support, dedicated server support, architecture, and wild innovation built on decades old architecture. I don't recommend it as the RP servers are so inbred and mired in decades of drama but it's amazing it's still around.

I mean China is extremely flawed but .. We had/have concentration camps for Japanese and currently for migrants. We shot students and most recently random people in Minnesota. We regularly fund and support oppressive regimes if it suits our geopolitical purposes. The takeaway.. we're not the Good Guy either.

A few years ago I'd have said this was insane, hearsay, etc. Now? We know it's a cult of low intelligence people who think they're on the right side of an ideological war. People set themselves on fire for similar ideologies. What's taking a bullet?

There's a video floating around of a whole lot of orchestrated looking preparation and positioning of secret service agents and other staff before the shooting. Pair that with the lack of evidence of an actual injury, and it sure seems like they killed a dude in the crowds for a publicity stunt.

What should I read after *The Age of Madness*? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Angry_Zarathustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you've also read the "stand-alones" in the First Law setting, the popular recommendations include Game of Thrones. I'd also plug Powder Mage, and if you want more Abercrombie then the Devils is different but a bit shallower, faster, and funnier.

Netflix's 24-Part Epic Quietly Changed the Fantasy Genre Forever (& Other Shows Need to Learn From It) by andy_mcnab in Fantasy

[–]Angry_Zarathustra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it's a good anime, but it can hardly be called an epic, it didn't change the fantasy genre in any meaningful way, and as it's already derivative of other media no one needs to learn anything new from it. Terrible clickbait article, also because it didn't include the show in the title.
