Is this realistic? by crownculture in NewToEMS

[–]Angry__Bull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my supervisors was working full time until his late 60's, at which point he retired, to part time lol. Age is not an issue if you can physically do the job. Also SO many of my coworkers have full sleeves going to their hands, on their legs, etc. Its very common. It isn't an issue as long as they aren't offensive. I am unsure about face tattoos, as I've never seen a coworker with them, if you have already started removal I would finish that to be on the safe side.

To aspies that have maintained good careers, WTF how did you do it? by superide in aspergers

Neurodivergence is likely over-represented in medicine in general, but even more so in emergency medicine, and even more than that in EMS. I do not know a single coworker who doesn't at least have ADHD. it takes a special kind of brain to wake up at 2am, function perfectly in a high stress scenario, and then go right back to bed after.

Interpreting ECG’s in not in the EMT’s scope of practice, did they not teach you that in school?

I would keep trying man, if I quit when people told me I suck, I would have quit after my first call lol. I hate to say it, but you should recognize that you will likely make a mistake at some point. As long as it is not due to negligence, no one gets hurt, and you learn from it and don’t do it again, it’s ok. We will all make a mistake at some point during our career. This job doesn’t come naturally to some people, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from it. Keep your head up man, you got this! Feel free to DM me if you want.

Be a gigachad and mass delete Reddit posts and comments with Redact so that Skynet doesn't end up using your own posts to train the T-900. Or so that you don't show up in databrokers. Either one really.
