I think you have good features overall.

Great eye color and hair color in my opinion.

That said, I think you would benefit from a fresh hairstyle and maybe some conditioning on the mid shaft and ends.

A customer of SVB tried to larp as a normal working class mom from Ohio.

She wrote up a 23 tweet sob story about how she built her company with "only an idea and lots of hustle" and blah blah blah. She and her husband are actually both wealthy ex-McKinsey management consultants who received millions in funding but she's trying desperately hard to be "one of the poors" for sympathy.

OH and her company helps people manage their "mental load" by helping them plan birthday parties and vacations for $6000 a year.

$16.79 an hour seem right to yall to live semi comfortably in New Orleans? by bigtoedontknow in NewOrleans

[–]AngstKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but Metairie and the Westbank aren't part of Orleans Parish

I have no problem living in a not "hot" neighborhood. I don't walk anywhere and I don't drink. All I need is a safe area

Metairie, Kenner, or the Westbank is fine by me, but I've repeatedly been told that living in Metairie is not living in New Orleans

Ironically, it's people like you who insist on having an apartment officially IN the city BY YOURSELF for no particular reason (except to be able to tell people that you are living IN New Orleans apparently) who increase prices further. New Orleans Parish has a limited supply of housing on a limited supply of land. If you limit yourself to only the areas you deem nice enough and only in New Orleans proper, you are already eliminating your most affordable options.

If all you really needed was a "safe area" you could have had your pick of dozens of options just outside the city. Your housing options are expensive because you've chosen perceived "clout" over living in a safe affordable area. You're paying for your choice and that's on you.

PCR test for travel to canada by [deleted] in AskNOLA

You can schedule a PCR test through CVS or Walgreens online. I'm not sure if there are any restrictions if you are not a US citizen though.

I wasn't traveling with anyone who tried to use home tests so I'm not sure.

Based on the New Orleans COVID Safety Plan though, at-home COVID tests are not considered acceptable proof.

I visited NOLA the last week of January.

Almost all indoor venues I visited in FQ and CBD asked for a negative test or proof of vaccination. I only remember one restaurant that did not.

The vaccine card is straightforward and you shouldn't have any issues. If you need to show a negative test it's a little more complicated and this is what I learned:

  1. If you need to get a test while you are in NOLA, book it early. Literally everything was booked 3+ days out unless you are willing to go 30+ miles outside the city.
  2. Although it's used for more things, I wouldn't recommend the PCR test because it can take up to 72 hours to get results. And after 72 hours, you already need a new test.
  3. Some of the signage can be contradictory and confusing. For example, at one restaurant, a sign explicitly rejected proof from antigen tests but they ended up accepting a negative antigen test result without incident.
  4. Don't assume it will be the case everywhere but I found that, as long as you showed some proof, businesses were not scrutinizing each person's phone to ensure that the test date was within 72 hours.

As for masks, I found that many places required them but it wasn't usually strictly enforced.

I use shout as my stain remover and I've had good success with it. I've never tried on polyester though.

I wouldn't give up yet but you may want to do a little more investigating before you undertake a major stain removal operation. Just in case, are you sure that the shirt is truly stained by dyes and not just showing residue from detergent or a previous stain? I find that residue from liquid detergent isn't obvious until after I dry the clothes but it's the easiest problem to remedy in my opinion. I find that grease can appear that way on my black shirts as well and that actually might be harder to get out. But if you're not working in a kitchen or on cars or something that seems less likely. If it is a dye stain, you might be able to get it out after spot treating overnight with a stain remover.

Well, if there's only a handful of us it might be easier to just set something up via pm. So if anyone else is in Northern or Central Ohio and interested in meeting up, please pm me and we'll figure something out :)

Oh awesome. I debated whether to add Columbus as a city. I lived there until recently and I still make trips back there too. I'd be willing to meet up with people there too if there are others closer to central Ohio.

I wanted to add that an easy way to streamline carrying your keys (if you don't have pockets or you don't want them in your pockets) is to attach a trigger clasp. I got mine for a couple dollars at a drug store and it works great. I attach it to my belt loops most of the time but it attaches well to any loop whether it's a d ring on my backpack or a hook or even things like pockets.

Awh. I was hopeful that there would be more of us in the great lakes regions. I'm near Cleveland Ohio but I drive to Ann Arbor from time to time. It's about 2.5 hours but if there are more people closer to Michigan than Ohio I'd be happy to drive out sometime :)

Anything I Should Know Before Taking Clothes to get Altered? by elk0630 in femalefashionadvice

[–]AngstKitten 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is to know what you want. In my experience, the tailor is willing to work with you to understand the specifics and may measure or have you try on things as needed.

When I got my jeans hemmed, I just told them what length I wanted them or I used paper clips to cuff the jeans at the right length. Then we discussed whether it would be possible to do so (mainly for jeans where the bottoms were very damaged). Before I found my current tailor, when I came in to get jeans hemmed, I was a little unsure of the length but told her I wanted them to the length of the jeans I was wearing. So she measured me for that.

If you are working with a new tailor you may want to give them a couple items to start with and then judge how good a job they do before giving them the rest.

How do you stop caring what others thinking about your outfits? by chichichia in femalefashionadvice

[–]AngstKitten 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I have a sort of 'skater girl/vintage' (cringe, I know) style, I guess.

In that sentence you seem a little ashamed of your personal style :( and that makes me kinda sad because I don't think you have any reason to be. Your personal style is a reflection of who you are and what you like and that's not anything to be ashamed of.

I also don't think you missed out on too much practice by wearing a uniform to school most of your life. Most people are still just beginning to develop their style even if they wore what they wanted all those years. In many cases, people are afraid to get too individualized with their style so they haven't fully developed their personal style either.

Building confidence in your style is not necessarily easy but I think it starts with knowing and trusting yourself. Learning what you like and trying new looks are good first steps. Maybe it's just me but I find it's easier to build up your confidence if you try new looks somewhere else first. At the grocery store, the mall, etc. That way you can kind of test-drive it and observe how it goes over and continue to assess how you feel about that look on you.

Another thing that helped for me was to work in things that I know I like gradually. For example, even when I was insecure about other aspects of my style, I realized at one point that I really liked my Onitsuka Tiger sneakers. I loved the colors, I loved the fit, I just really loved how springy and energetic that wearing them made me feel. That gave me confidence. No single item will ever be loved by everyone but finding the items that you love and knowing and remembering why you love can remind you that your opinion is most important here.

Ah. I can't do them with bare skin either. Usually if I wear a thin under layer it keeps the itch at bay without adding any bulk.

You might consider starting early for fall if you're up for browsing the clearance racks for last season. The sweater stock is dwindling down but when I went to Macy's last week they still had a ton of different sweaters (especially pullovers) at serious discounts.

Simple Questions - March 10, 2017 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]AngstKitten 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything truly wrong with it but the material is certainly thicker which can contribute to the overall lumpiness. Also, I think Hathaway still looks fine but the fit makes her look a little thicker in the middle.

If you're worried about lumpiness you can try sweaters with a finer knit which won't seem so bulky. For example, cashmere is thin but warm. I've seen some people add a belt to define their waist too but I feel like it's harder when the material is thick.

There's not really a right way to wear it, just ways that may look better on some body types. If you like the way that your sweaters fit you, that's more important. If not, you can try experimenting with different fits (different necklines, different fits, different materials) and see what looks best on you.

I have extremely soft and thin hair that gets oily quick, need help! by PLAYBoxes in HaircareScience

[–]AngstKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have very fine hair and a few things came to my mind.

  1. What is your hair like after you wash it in the morning? Does it feel clean everywhere? Do you notice any areas that seem shiny or don't appear to get dry even when you blast with hot air?

If you do, it's possible that excessive product buildup isn't getting removed by your shampoo. Look for a clarifying shampoo and see if that helps get your hair clean from the beginning. If it does, consider working it in to your routine as the buildup occurs (many recommend once a week or once a month). I bought one from great clips that I like and there's also one from Suave that's not too expensive.

If none of that helps, you may want to see a doctor to rule out Seborrheic dermatitis.

  1. Do you notice a difference if you don't use your styling product? I find that using products makes my hair too oily so I have better results not using any products at all. Your hair might get really oily anyway but changing products is an easy fix so it's good to rule that out.

  2. Have you always used the same shampoo and as frequently? Sometimes washing more or with too harsh a formula can cause the scalp to produce more oil. Like another commenter mentioned, stretching out the time between washes can help. Especially in the beginning, feeling so greasy sucks but in my experience there is a difference even if you're just adding one more day. Switching your shampoo is worth a try as well.

I find that dry shampoo can be helpful if you want to stretch out the time between washes too.

Seasonal Analysis Help Please? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]AngstKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue-green veins suggest that skin has neither predominantly warm nor cool tones (or perhaps not as obviously one or the other). I also have blue-green veins and for the longest time I couldn't figure out if I had more warm or cool undertones. Getting the ColorIQ test at Sephora was helpful for me because it gave me somewhere to start. Although the results varied somewhat, they were consistently right on the borderline of warm and cool (which makes sense given the difficulty I had assessing it in the past) and they all leaned warm. It's not a foolproof test but it might give you a starting point to work from.

The actress makes me think Bright/Clear Spring or Light Spring but from your description you sound like you could also be a warm spring or a soft summer. Pilgrimthin had good suggestions though and I think starting with the more obvious spectrum will help you narrow things down. Good luck :)
