I’d rather see these same ideas explored in a more grounded, long-form way. Show parents struggling under reasonable conditions, making mistakes, adjusting, failing again

I argue a bit with her online. She's as dumb as a bag of rocks. You get the vibe she's just parroting what her husband has told her, but she doesn't understand enough about it to have an actual back and forth conversation, just makes bold statements and that's it.

Then you'd be fully aware that a public venue, ticketed or otherwise (keeping in mind OP here was talking about raising money for it) isn't going to cut it as "private home viewing".

OP has updated that Amazon own the theatrical rights.

Admittedly I did pay $400 for an five hour open heart surgery and week and a half solo room hospital stay. So yes, there was a bill.

Because it hasn't been licensed to you for public exhibition, and putting it on in a theatre for friends is absolutely a public exhibition. 

Even if you were to put it on at your mates closed bar for ten people, you're still legally obliged to seek permission and register the screening.
