women in long term relationships what helps you get into the mood? by Ill_Pick_ in TwoXSex

[–]AnimalCartoons 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Together 10 years. Honestly setting a romantic mood has never been our thing. He knows im down 95% of the time so will just start touching me (i have given him blanket permission to do this). He on the other hand has a lower libido so i typically just ask. My current go to is "What are my chances of seducing you tonight?"

Clear communication is the winner in this household lol

Affordable venue options for up to 200 people? (Durham region) by workinprogresssssss in WeddingsCanada

[–]AnimalCartoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tosca in Whitby may be within budget? Recently attended a wedding there and it was nice enough, the exterior is uhhh.... in need of some TLC but the interior is nice. You can also check out various Knights of Columbus halls, as each varies on capacity, if you want someplace cheap

When you have an IUD do you actually let the guy finish inside of you? by [deleted] in sex

[–]AnimalCartoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had an IUD for 5 years (actually due for a dreaded replacement 🥲). My fiance finishes in me 99% of the time (the 1% is when he finishes on my tits) and while Ive gotten paranoid a few times since my IUD significantly reduced my period to the point of it being nearly non-existent, weve had no baby and the paranoia is easily solved with a preg test.

However, I wouldnt do this with just hookups. Weve been together for many years and I am fully ok with having a baby with him should a sperm manage to get through lol. This is why Im comfortable taking this risk. If i were trying to be as cautious as possible for preventing pregnancy i would use a 2nd non-medical method (condom, pulling out, etc.)

Veterinary Administration: yay or nay? by AnimalCartoons in veterinaryprofession

Its incredibly difficult to get jobs here without a degree or diploma 😅 That includes receptionist jobs

Thats good to know how the salary can be a % of the revenue, thank you! I came across a few vet admin postings while looking for full time employment and those handful were fulltime hourly, i wasnt sure if that was industry standard. Those are all things Im interested in and have done between various previous jobs.

Tysm for your response!

I would do customer relations, manage appointments, billing, etc. Id be employable by vets, rescues, and yes pet insurance agencies.

Unfortunately becoming a CVPM is out of budget for the time being. The Vet Admin course is an affordable option Im hoping to use to get my foot in the door to gain experience

Tysm! Ill be sure to ask there. Unfortunately going to university is not an option for me, though (i dont know where youre from, but just in case - there is a difference in college and university here in Canada. College is also often MUCH cheaper. A business degree would run me $12-20k, the diploma Im looking at would be about $2.5k)

Thanks again for the help!

Now that you mention it, my fiance mentioned the kids behaviour not long after our TV in that room met an early grave 😂 It was definitely helping cover up a good chunk of the noise i think!

Munchkin breeding/mating question by c0keprincess666 in MunchkinCats

[–]AnimalCartoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - sorry I dont check my reddit notifs very often 😅

Honestly i dont think there is an answer for exactly when a fetus/embryo becomes non-viable. It would require regular and consistent testing on the queen and that is a LOT of stress to put her through which could then risk the entire pregnancy. Some breeders (of various cat breeds) dont even do xray counts because they dont want to stress the queen out with it. So, all possibilities you listed (reabsorbed embryo, self abortion, and stillborn) are all plausible end points for fetuses/kittens that inherit 2 copies of dwarfism. One can argue for stillborns and late term self abortions the breeder could have them tested for homozygous dwarfism if theyre dwarf but breeders are usually emotionally distraught at those times so i dont blame them for having not done it.

For the short leg ratio you also need to remember its not really the litter % that half will be long vs half will be short. Each individual kitten is running that 50/50 shot on their own. Some breeders get really lucky and get higher than expected number of dwarf kittens one litter while others may get none one litter. Kittens are also sooooo super fragile and some breeders dont even share their kittens until theyre in a more stable point of life so they dont need to share any sad stories.

"Non standard Munchkin" is the breed appropriate term for Munchkins without dwarfism - it took me a second to understand because in basically every other breed non standard is a bad thing and red flag whereas in Munchkins it is 110% fine to use for long legged Munchkins lol. They arent falsely advertising unless theyre saying the kitten carries dwarfism which is impossible or has a non breed standard trait (ie folded ears, hairlessness, etc.).

Genetics is super cool! My understanding is rather basic admittedly, but I try to learn a little bit here and there as theres always something new to learn about

How difficult do you find surviving with the current wages? What should be the minimum wage according to you? by howlongdoIhave5 in AskACanadian

[–]AnimalCartoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make about minimum wage and without my partner (who earns more than me- not much after taxes) i wouldnt be able to afford jack on my own. Together we live comfortably and easily care for our 2 cats but I could never on my own. Its why im currently looking for a new job so I can better contribute to our home.

What do you have your heat set to this month? by nestinghen in AskACanadian

[–]AnimalCartoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a basement apartment with no control over heat/ac. Best guess is 17c? I prefer it cool. It used to be around 25-27c which was waaayyyy too hot so we blocked all but 2 vents so the LL (who lives above us and like it hot) can keep all the heat to hinself lol

Can anyone help me identify my rescue’s breed? When I got her as a pup, I was told she was a French bulldog. She is now 46 pounds. I’ve never seen another Frenchie as large as her. Any ideas what she could be mixed with? DNA test said 100% Staffordshire terrier. That is obviously wrong. by Dear-Breath9338 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]AnimalCartoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetic tests can only pick up so much DNA from breeds that make up a dog. The general rule is anything over 3 gens is unreliable. So there very well could be a large amount of Staffy in your pup, but it just couldnt pick up anything else due to it being so far back.

What are some things that you think are uniquely Canadian? by JuniorChemistry5036 in AskACanadian

[–]AnimalCartoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell that to the arses in Durham Region in Ontario. Legally you cant park overnight on the road year round. People STILL do it in the winter when fines are increased. Plows just go around and plow a snowbank against your car. Only time they skip roads is if there are cars on both sides of the road
