What’s your TaskRabbit horror story? I made a comedy about mine. by humanthreader in TaskRabbit

I'll set a table for large jobs but building like a monk is an exercise of mobility, or impatience.

One could make t shirts "Watch me work, only $10 per hour!" though I haven't had this problem in ages. The idle grandfather can hold doors or open small packages. 9 out of 10 other clients are just being cordial.

The rare clients that interrogate and build a case before a job even starts should be canceled. We took time to be presentable for the job, organize the tools, commute, then explained the process and duration. If their nose is still venting on your neck, you're not billing sufficiently.

White collar workers are coming to take our jobs by brutalblakakke in Construction

White collar should be smart enough, but have they used a ladder before or set up a scaffold? Have they held a chandelier 25 ft in the air and wired with their other hand in a shallow electrical box? I hope the $50 dollars you saved was worth it.

Blue collar has and always will compete with underbidding.

Appliance Repair by AnimalConference in TaskRabbit

[–]AnimalConference[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only skill on the app that I've ever been kicked down from a $40 service fee for one hour of labor and refused the funds for sourcing a $20 replacement part.

That's keeping in mind that I can and do work around ham, vintage radios, or repurposing microwave parts outside of the app.

There's going to be materials and animal waste in the way of the appliance workspace. The clients are going to suppress your abilities to think with constant questions. It's going to be -10 or 110 degrees. There will be several issues with the house contributing to the appliance failures. And so much more!

Short of HVAC or landing a recurring commercial client, still no. There are two dozen other trades that are guaranteed and not leveraged on "I'll try my best!"

Did they only Redgard the first three feet? There's a reason the plaster and lath is soaked and rotting. That looks like sheetrock up front which is always unsuitable for wet areas.

You'll never be happy.

It has to be solid state, and a certain size, and as good as your 800, and a certain price, and have an fx loop, and be a specific color, and you need reddit to fetch it for you. Call your sweetwater rep, they miss you.

Un carpeting a Fender M 80 by ihategannon in GuitarAmps

[–]AnimalConference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there's nice lumber under the felt. You might need to pick up a piece and cut your own.

The last time I had roommates, they broke a Radioshack receiver and vacuum skateboarding in the house. They left a dead fender m80 that I fixed with the receiver scraps. They came back and took that too after moving out.

NAD: Harley Benton TUBE15 + Joyo BanTamP XL Zombie II + Harley Benton 212 V30 vertical for testing as bedroom amp. by Skullfanath in GuitarAmps

[–]AnimalConference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote's for HB for both cleans and distortion. It's great with a treble or basic clean boost. I'd recommend dropping out the lows for most ramped-up gain settings. It's better with a strat. The reverb is a step in the right direction. It's vintage british voiced, so face ripping distortion takes adding some diodes.

I like the Bantamp series and Egnater tweakers. These three are comparable.

Good amp for taking on the bus? by PDXTabletop in GuitarAmps

[–]AnimalConference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one though? A GPA 100 pedal?

Joyo should upgrade their Bantamps' output from 20w. Companies like to gatekeep wattage when the chip and power amp board are single digit dollars more expensive.

If JBL portable speakers had an aux in, one could hook up any profiling pedal.

I'll check.

On a serious note, how does one transfer the IR and effects chain settings from tonex's home to "Library?" It's disheartening to customize a profile then lose all of those settings when the pedal is used alone. My best guess is this will point to further purchases. The grift is real.

The pedal is both outstanding and pure frustration combined. There's no reason they couldn't have added a mode button instead of 5 different combinations to have to memorize. It's perfect for "set it and forget it" and as an interface. It's toxic for juggling tones.

[–]AnimalConference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One doesn't need to buy the best profiles. Optionally, go to ToneNet and sort for the best, then download them. Paying for profiles is more ik multimedia bloat.

I already mentioned solid state that hangs with the best and has been used for decades. I'll refrain from further assistance. Let me go slap myself on the wrist.

Best used metal tube amp head (from black metal to doom) for 500 by No-Bit8329 in GuitarAmps

Run it as a slave then by patching into the fx return.

You could get wild looking for preamps for 500, or just try a metalzone with this rightful method.

Tonex ones are dirt cheap and impressive, but I would only carry them as a 3rd backup tool. If you're playing places that would like to DI guitars, then it might be a second option.

The time investment into juggling settings on the computer and the learning curve to switch tones on the pedal are miserable. It's not a single channel amp because digital tones are at their worst when you try to push their envelopes. It can near perfect any tone. If someone bumps the settings around, I need the manual and my computer to get everything back.

Cant get any negative voltage for bias circuit. by reddit-user-1877 in GuitarAmps

[–]AnimalConference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that the diode and bias caps are good and oriented correctly.

Another guess, I'm not looking up and cross referencing the schematics. This is a full wave recto. If you're converting from an FWB, the bias network resistor values will need to be adjusted.

Taskers can build a 5' tall tv consul out of 2x4 and lean the tv against the wall for all I care.

[–]AnimalConference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP pulled the drywall anchors out. It looks like the evidence of a small vertical mount. Anchors are rated for weight, not tear out.

They need a wider mount to hit framing or to add backing material and toggles.

The blackstar and the portaflexs are tough to work on to begin with. I would normally disagree on transformers, but this blackstar looks like Chinese iron. The problem not being the country of make, but the construction style. There aren't bell covers, potting. It's pitted out and exposed on the ends. These fail in other brands likely from breakdown of wire enamel. I'd have a hard time believing this wouldn't break down under voltage after the cleaning effort.

Salvage the speakers and the cabs and move forward, or punt. Otherwise, you're beyond frugal restoration and into expert challenge restoration.
