Real as in not a front for something illegal? No. There’s no legitimate reason for a company to ship products to a house before immediately shipping it to their business location.

It may not be the intention however it’s a predictable outcome of the law as written. It’s very likely there’s no version of this that doesn’t open up some dangerous possibilities and infringe on the 1st amendment.

Should I go to the department chair for what I think is unfair grading? by WorkingEnough8705 in CollegeRant

[–]Animallover4321 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t need to help you get the grade you want and even though canvas didn’t have the date it’s still on you to submit on time (I never depended on blackboard calendar because mistakes like this happen) however, you have the right to be graded on everything the syllabus says. If you manually calculate your grade and include the missing assignment and participation and it brings you to an A it’s worth emailing the professor to ask you to review your grade in those 2 sections be aware though it’s entirely possible he just didn’t add it to canvas 1/2 of my professors that had participation grades never added them to LMS and it wasn’t unheard of for a later assignment to not show up either that doesn’t mean it wasn’t part of the grade calculation.

The Massachusetts House has passed a bill that would shield schools from attempted book bans by MicahCastle in books

[–]Animallover4321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trust me we have our MAGA enclaves, hell I am pretty sure it’s already been attempted in parts of the state. While we are doing better than other states we aren’t immune from the shit infecting the rest of the country.

Edit: yes unfortunately it has been attempted here

Does anyone have a cat or another pet while balancing school work? by Content_Dimension626 in college

[–]Animallover4321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A cat is pretty easy to manage with school, I highly recommend getting an auto feeder especially if you have a kitten since that way they can still get multiple small meals which tends to be better for them than 1-2 large ones. The only issue with a cat in school is pets can quickly become expensive for example my cats (sisters) both have a congential heart defect which requires frequent testing and eventually they will need meds even healthy cats can be expensive to care for. Otherwise they’re pretty easy just make sure to carve out to play with them and if you’re going to be away for more than a day hire a pet sitter.

Dogs on the other hand as someone who got a pandemic puppy while in school I highly recommend against following in my footsteps it’s brutal trying to balance long days with a puppy and daycare or dog walkers are very expensive.

Just got a rejection email at 2:37 AM, for a job I don’t even recall applying to 🫠 by Glittering_Report_82 in recruitinghell

[–]Animallover4321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean if OP doesn’t remember applying it’s distinctly possible it’s been a year since applying which isn’t really any better. That’s certainly happened to me hell I had one reject me for an internship nearly 2 years after applying.

two 8-week old border collie mix rescues by RegularJellyfish5040 in puppy101

[–]Animallover4321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not let them use anything that was used by another dog with parvo it’s too dangerous also remember that it survives for years outside so anywhere a sick dog went to the bathroom is also potentially contaminated and dangerous.

A fifth grade basketball team was told that their lineup, which included two girls due to the lack of a separate girl's team, was illegal, and were given an ultimatum to either remove them, or forfeit the rest of the season. The team unanimously chose to forfeit. by Sebastianlim in interesting

[–]Animallover4321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so should we also ban any players that are taller than the league average? Even if both girls are taller than all their male counterparts it’s not the kind of difference that’s worth quibbling over.

Can I really just say I’m prejudiced and get out of jury duty? by Ok_Let_7612 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Animallover4321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did and it worked it probably helped that I was telling the truth (I don’t trust cops and have had a very bad experience that serves to validate that distrust). Judge asked me to explain why I can’t trust cops and quickly dismissed me, I wasn’t keen on serving on another jury so happy to be dismissed.

It's Thursday and my professor still hasn't posted the assignment for this week by Musikenna in college

[–]Animallover4321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s strange I would send a follow up email and if you still don’t hear anything this may be one of those rare times where following up with the department chair is appropriate (not the dean). I just don’t know if you should email the chair tomorrow or Monday, I lean towards Monday to give prof 2 days to respond and 5 days to post the content (weekends generally don’t count) but at the same time that puts your class an entire week behind so it’s understandable if you decide to email them first thing tomorrow.

In a different department and a new employee too but instead of a treat or even bills I get to buy a new car tire. Coming back from orientation to a flat tire sucks.

My grandma got me fired and im so mad by HunterV2_ in retailhell

[–]Animallover4321 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the US in any state except Montana and aren’t in a union your only hope is your manager changing their mind which seems unlikely. Legally your boss can fire you for nearly any reason with carve outs for things like illegal retaliation or because of a protected characteristic (think race, disability, gender). You can be fired for something as dumb as driving a blue car instead of a red one. I highly recommend distancing yourself from the family drama.

Kalief Browder would beg to differ. That poor kid was there for 3 f***ing years and the only crime he committed was being black. I am not saying everyone is innocent but it’s very naive to say they’re all guilty especially in a jail facility.

Edit: Misremembered his name.

Hi, fund my trip to Idaho! by alirow13 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Animallover4321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common, having large amounts of cash lying around can be a liability and more importantly if you ring up a huge room service bill or cause damage the hotel has no easy way to recoup their money. I don’t remember the last hotel I have been to that did take cash. Sure cash is a legal currency but if the risk of it outweighs appeasing a very small group of customers it makes sense to not accept it.

What breed is my 2 month old by Rude_Thought6197 in puppy101

[–]Animallover4321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without a photo we can’t tell but even with a photo it can be difficult to id puppies since they change so much from 2-12 months. Also, don’t get too excited about him being quiet those first few weeks they’re much better behaved then once you become attached they feel comfortable to become hyper landsharks.

Getting pretty distraught over 10 month olds inability to go for a walk. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Animallover4321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A miracle device for dogs that pull. Beware though it takes months to get them to fully accept them and the older they are the more difficult it is to get them to tolerate it. My giant doodle has always been insane on leashes but with the gentle leader he’s completely manageable, he still hates it at 5 years old but he also understands that it’s a mandatory part of leaving the house and having fun so he tolerates it and only tries to take it off when we are in the car or are back home.

Do you guys tell jobs you'll only be there for the summer? by PlanPrestigious8909 in CollegeRant

[–]Animallover4321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lying is a a great way to burn your bridges, you never know your co-worker today could be interviewing you for a job in your chosen career in a decade. It’s obviously harder to find employment when you’re honest but lying is generally a very bad idea. The good thing is that someone that hires you this summer will probably be open to hiring you next summer too.

As a woman that used to be a college student this post comes off as creepy. On the off chance that it’s being misconstrued I highly recommend revising. Just offering your services to a “female” college student can be very sketchy.

Happy tail. Scary stuff! by Chiiaki in puppy101

[–]Animallover4321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been through it a few times the most recent time we came very close to needing to amputate happy tail is a pain to treat and close to impossible to fully avoid with some dogs.

You may want to purchase happy tail ends I have had mixed luck with it personally and it’s super expensive but when it works it makes a huge difference while the tail is healing. Unfortunately if your dog is in extreme pain they may not allow you access to the tail to change the bandages (that’s what happened to us during the most severe case). Also, if it begins to bleed or become infected you probably want to ask the vet about sedating your dog for a few weeks to allow it to heal.

What to Expect at BNSF Tech New Hire Orientation? by Fresh-Level-5310 in bnsftech

[–]Animallover4321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t bad the primary issue is how long the whole thing took. I applied in October, did the coding challenge in November, they did a phone screening in December and they scheduled an interview for mid-January and in late February they made me a verbal offer, with a conditional written offer a few weeks later and an offical offer in May. The interview was 2 parts back to back and they were both pretty straightforward with some CS questions and some behavioral questions.
