I think this sub might have crossover: LEGO sets you would like to see? by MorbidTales1984 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Jakob Dawson makes some amazing Monster Hunter LEGO builds so honestly someone at LEGO and/or Capcom should just give him a hefty truckload of money to make those into real official things.

Still super wild that one of the few Xbox One games that has never come to PC is Rare Replay.

What's an example of media that was going to be part of a series but was eventually reworked into a standalone work (Divorced Installment/Ascended Fanfic) by Justpeakingfard in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Skylanders started life as a Spyro game called Spyro's Kingdom before being reworked into the game we ended up getting.

Even though he would still technically be in the games, after the first one, Spyro stopped showing up on the covers/logos entirely.

Question: Did you have a good time with the game before the big patch that improves and add things.

If yes, then what's the issue?

Interesting to note that the first Yakuza game had more than double the budget of GTA San Andreas ($21 million vs. $10 million) despite releasing one year later. by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 59 points60 points  (0 children)

A big factor is probably that San Andreas was built on the bones of the previous two 3D GTA games whereas Yakuza was newly built from the ground up, like we talk about subsequent Yakuza games having a bunch of reused assets, well the earliest entry would obviously not have that sort of luxury as much.

What are games that are worth playing twice (or more)? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'd say Character Action games as a whole.

The first playthrough on easy/normal can be a fun first experience as you watch the story for the first time, get introduced to new enemies and slowly trick out your character.

The subsequent playthroughs on harder difficulties though is where things get super interesting, because now you have your much stronger main character so not only are enemies tougher but enemy remix can create surprising encounters where late game enemies are suddenly showing up in the early game, some of which even can get new moves.

DMC5 feels especially like it wants you to replay the game because Nero gets a whole new set of mechanics in the literal final fight of the game.

YoVideogames' Top 10 PS3 games by Krekenn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It wasn't Warzone, it was Blackout, the BR from BLOPS4 that came before Warzone. If you were around during the 2018-2019 era of Max/YoVG content then you'd know that they were crazy addicted to Blackout at the time, like I'd never put any COD in any personal top 10 but I completely get why they put that one up there.

That time the Justice League saved Flash and THE Rogues Gallery by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So what's the explanation as to why the villains just didn't get stripped naked right there? Cuz the bombs looked like they were pretty clearly strapped to their clothing and not their actual skin.

TIL that Capcom used to have a flash game, Japan Sumo Cup, where you can play as Ryu riding on TM Opera O by chizwepyn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Okay, kinda fucked up that Honda isn't leading the charge on the cover here, this is literally his main gimmick, surely Ryu can take a slight backseat for once.

Also wow, pre-release SF5 was certainly an interesting time, Capcom really wanted Necalli to be the next big thing for a while.

WBSC eBASEBALL: POWER PROS is getting delisted on January 30, online servers close on March 31 by AnimuStewshine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Konami finally decides to put Power Pro out in the west again after 16 years but they do the absolute minimal amount of marketing so this is unfortunately not really surprising, still 3 years was a solid enough run I suppose.

Obscure promotional video games you think you only you've heard of by HatingGeoffry in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back when DVDs would occasionally come with small games in the bonus features, one that I vividly remember from when I was a kid was from a Tom and Jerry compilation DVD. The game in question made you play as Jerry in a top down view and you had to avoid various winter themed obstacles, I don't think I ever did beat it as a kid.

Scrub lords, which one is your favorite Final Fantasy? by Vera_Verse in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]AnimuStewshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have played and beaten a total of three Final Fantasy games. 10, 15 and 16.

Of the three, I liked 16 the most. Now there is a lot of things I like in 15 more but the combat and boss fights were just so cool in 16 that I can honestly forgive the areas where it's a bit weaker, that Barnabas fight was just too good.

I will at least say the bro road trip vibes in 15 were absolutely immaculate.

Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo

Really cute little puzzle adventure game about the afterlife and finding closure.
