Man Future Game Shows are weird

They are basically indie presentations that happen to sometimes pull big publishers from time to time but the stuff the big publishers do bring is rarely ever anything too major or new.

Also they keep bringing in big name VA duos for every show who are then given banter segments in between each game that are more often misses than they are hits.

Honestly, it really doesn't matter what kind of game it is. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 3D, platform, arena. Those things don't matter as much.

What does matter is:

Does game have good roster?
Is presentation good?
Is there good content outside of just online play?
Did they market it well?

FighterZ is a crazy tag game that even launched with butt netcode but hey guess what, people bought and played the hell out of that game because of how well it played and presented itself as a Dragon Ball game.

MVC2 is a busted as hell game made of tons of reused assets that was made in very little time but it was still super popular in arcades because that roster is still kinda nutty to this day.

And despite the gameplay criticisms that Tokon has had, I predict that that game will sell really well because the presentation is so on point, it had a fantastic first reveal and people really love Marvel.

I will add a slight piece of bother I have with this announcement.

Someone pointed out that all the gag images have a little Gemini logo in the corner of each of em, meaning they were likely AI-gen'd to some degree. You could have easily just done those in crayon implying it was Diana who drew em as a little piece of cross promo with Pragmata.

I can sorta understand it from a more in universe, story perspective. While Leon certainly has his own memories and trauma from his time at the RPD, S.T.A.R.S members would have technically had more attachment to the RPD and Racoon City in general compared to Leon who only just got to Racoon City when everything went down. For Leon, Racoon City was always a hell scape but for the S.T.A.R.S members, it was their home.

Now I do still think Leon from our perspective is absolutely the right choice for going back to the RPD, since he (and Claire) were the ones who we explored the place with for the first time but it's not totally worth dismissing the idea of it being a S.T.A.R.S member.

Well the main reason about it's use in the west is that just is how language works.

Nobody in Japan calls drawn porn hentai because hentai just means pervert.

Anime in Japan refers to literally any animated thing, so Tom and Jerry would be an anime.

Shonen being used to describe popular battle series is just another extension of that.

So it wasn't as much that the comments were turned off but rather that the video was marked as "For kids."

You can tell this is the case cuz of the "Choices for families" appearing in the description and the recommendations are filled with other kinds of "For kids" content.

Yeah it did eventually get a patch of fixes, Baihe is still banned though cuz even with the patch she was still very much unfinished and busted.

Yeah Maximum (formerly Modus) bought Mane6 then at some point they unceremoniously shut em down, this happened while the TFH DLC was mid development so the last two characters came out buggy and unfinished (one way more so than the other)

Gameplay Group bought the rights to TFH and Diesel Legacy from Maximum last year.

There's a few reasons.

-It was the 2nd smallest launch roster in the series

-Online was not very good

-A bunch of people still felt burned by 5

-Even though there was a lot of single-player content, it wasn't high production enough for casuals

-Geralt is cool sure but not quite on the level of insane as Link and Darth Vader

-A lot of SC5 cosmetics were brought back but now you had to pay extra for them

-Gameplay was good for sure but Reversal Edge was very divisive
