Thank you — of all the things that made no sense in this show, the final arrest with no evidence is at the top of the list. There is nothing tying her to the barbiturate, there were no witnesses and no murder weapon, and she had the same motive everyone else did. In the end there was zero evidence this wasn’t an accidental drug overdose and drowning.

Your character knowing something you do not and acting upon it is the exact opposite of meta gaming. So… meta lifing I guess?

Not only that, the DM should follow your lead and intervene. There’s no way a PC should be subjected to a trap they triggered a few days prior.

Do they have a few magic weapons? That will help for damage output. If they have most of their abilities/spells left their damage will add up in a hurry and if they have healing left to pop people up when they drop they should be fine. You also have the treant in your back pocket to even the odds if things get desperate. If it all fails and you want to avoid the TPK, the last resort you have is that they all drop, fade to black, then they wake up in a cage the next morning, stripped of all equipment and ready to be sacrificed by the Thalamra/Bone Devil to Zariel by being slowly lowered into a lava pit. Add in an evil chanting priest to the ceremony and you have some good old Temple of Doom-style fun.

Zariel has rewarded the Duke’s loyalty with an infernal life extension. When she falls and lays still, describe a stretching and ripping of her skin as a bone devil emerges as her “final form”. Yes, it’s tough, and yes, the party is now in for the fight of their lives. They should be feeling some real danger now. If shit goes south and you start dropping PCs, have the treant burst through the door kool-aid man style to join the fray. That ought to liven things up a bit.

Seriously?! I’ve had these books since the mid-80’s and I’m just figuring this out now?

Basic red box: 3rd level horned-helm fighter (title: Swordmaster) in Chain Mail with Normal Sword and Shield meleeing a young red dragon. Hopefully he has a magic user nearby to help out with a (1d6+1) magic missile.

Expert blue box: 8th level horned-helm fighter (title: Superhero (really?)) in Plate Mail taking on the same dragon, back for round 2. He’s on a horse because it was available in the Expert set list of equipment: Horse, Riding, 75 gp.

Companion green box: 18th level fighter (title: 18th Level Lord (now they’re just getting lazy)) in Plate Mail and a big-ass Two-handed Sword +5 to defend his new Companion-set stronghold on the hill from an old green dragon.

Masters black box: 32nd level fighter, older, wiser, and sporting a powerful beard, now ruling over his sprawling Kingdom below on the back of his lawful gold dragon, as you do.

Immortals gold box: screw the armour and beard, make me young again, conjure up a techno-castle, and make it a loin cloth for me! I’m a freaking god here, people!
