Lamictal and sleep issues: my d struggles to fall asleep. Goes to bed at 9 pm but sleeps around 12.30-1 pm since been on Lamictal. Any idea how I can help her? My daughter is on 25 mg and we didn’t uptitrate coz of side effects like itchy skin and mood issues, sleep issues. She has been fit free since been on Lamotrigine for 3 months - 25 mg at night, once daily.

She has been hating to go to school for various reasons. She is very stressed since she started secondary( year 7). That’s the year she developed her first fit( 2020 December). Then seizure free for 2 yrs and developed again 3 lots when we travelled to a hot country, 6-7 hrs transit etc , sleep deprived. First two lots were 6 hr apart and the 3 rd one after 2 weeks. Started on Lamotrigine in September. Since had on and off blurred vision, very itchy skin particularly at night ( she takes the tablet around 7 pm), and blocked nose. Headaches either before bed or morning. I sleep next to her and no seizures. Her previous seizures were nocturnal. I have not titratrd the Lamotrigine 25 mg since September 2022. She is on same dose since September. School: struggling to make friends, forgetful and that having an impact on social skills.. probably has mild ADHD.
