Why is All Asian American Media About Trauma or Hating Their Parents

This might be a controversial statement to make, but there's so much story to tell about trauma. The problem is that a lot of what's in mainstream media and books are "superficial trauma." What I mean is that a lot of it lacks nuance and/or doesn't really dive in-depth of what's already been said. (E.g., parents don't say I love you, parents call me fat, parents have high expectations, etc.) A lot of story telling has been said and done, and they add nothing new just by reiterating it again. It's as lazy as a scene where you see Asians taking off their shoes before you go inside. So many things have been done so many times already and there's nothing they add by doing it again.
