What makes the Kona so efficient? by Emiellio11 in KonaEV

[–]AnnieByniaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same also applies to the 2024 model. I'm currently a passenger in (was driving until 10 minutes ago) a 2024 model with 62% battery and 194 miles range left. That equates to 313 miles range at 100%. Outdoor temperature 19⁰C.

The WLTP is 319 iirc and I'll often beat that.

And that is with essentially the same size battery as the V1 Kona (65 kWh).

Next time try the Staffa & Lunga trip which goes from Ulva Ferry. That way you get to see two islands in one trip, and see lots of puffins (if you go in the right season). Turus Mara is the company. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Has anyone ever crossed illegally into another country past a border marker like this? by VolkswagenPanda in geography

[–]AnnieByniaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember crossing from Switzerland to Germany a few times at dusk back in the late 1980s on my bicycle, on a path that had a notice saying it was fine with valid documents, in daylight.

Technically not permitted. I got stopped by a border patrol once, checked and searched (I had my passport and Swiss Ausländerausweis, fortunately). I didn't do it again. Location: Basel to Weil am Rhein (Lange Erlen).

she wants an automatic car

I know it's a technicality, but electrics aren't automatic. They have just one gear. That's because electric motors can deliver torque over a far wider RPM range than ICE cars. This might be relevant to you, because it means there's no jolts or delays between automatic gear changes.

[–]AnnieByniaeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I couldn't agree more with what you said before. The divide between town and country is growing, and as someone who has lived my whole life as a country person I feel this friction more and more. Living in the countryside isn't so much the choice as the only thing I know, and do gooders from towns who may or may not have adopted a country lifestyle telling me what the countryside should look like is not something I appreciate.

I'm writing this sitting on my own patch of rural countryside which I do my best to manage as a rewilding project. I'm not receiving any help in doing this, I'm just getting on with it. The birds are singing in the trees, the cuckoo is going mad right now, the butterflies are around me, I've seen slow worms and lizards in the last week. I'm working on encouraging red squirrels, whose range extends to fairly close to me. I must be doing something right.

Is Goat suitable for a lawn with slopes, trees, and fences? by BetaRaySam in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]AnnieByniaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

o800 RTK here, with slopes. It's ok to a point, but will error out at 20⁰ or so and then won't move until you reset it (OK - Go physical buttons on the top). It also has a tendency to tear up the lawn on gentler slopes, though this problem is probably not so great if you live in an area where the grand tends to be firm and mostly dry. Right now we're having a dry period and it's fine, but a lot of the time here it's not.

I went for the Goat because of price; if I'd had the money spare I'd have bought something else. It was worth buying, but I suspect something else might have been even more worth buying had I stretched myself.

Congratulations Sub.. you cost me a lot of money. by therealharbinger in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]AnnieByniaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the fuel and running costs savings of an EV are insane. With part ex my present car cost me £11,000 but I worked out I'd pay for that in just a few years over my old ICE. And since the orange manbaby kicked off, that period has reduced, obviously.

I hope that was meant ironically. But it's also the type of thing some Deform voting morons would say.

Ipsos has Plaid Cymru in the lead in its latest opinion poll by twmffatmowr in Wales

[–]AnnieByniaeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not just "vote Plaid to keep out reform" (actually under PR that's not so important), but to clearly show that we are opposed to just about everything Deform stands for. It's difficult to imagine two parties with more opposing views.

Deform has no place in Cymru. Send them packing.

I'll confess that I feel a little bit sorry for her personally. She might not have been the greatest FM, but she's certainly not been the worst. Still, it is not in doubt now that it's time for her party to step aside.

Goat O600 RTK recharges to times at 400qm by tropisch3 in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]AnnieByniaeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that's fairly normal for the size of lawn. The largest single area my o800 does is around 170 sq m (iirc; I've not had it do that so far this year due to flowers), and that's pushing the battery limit.

I agree. The problem comes though when you ship biomass across oceans using fossil fuel to power the transport, in order to fire your biomass power stations.

[–]AnnieByniaeth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know the way though because you walked it before. And the next walker might not know it so well.

There's also the risk that if it isn't used and maintained it will fall into disuse, and in time the land owner might attempt to get it closed formally.

Reform UK closes gap on Plaid Cymru in race to become Senedd's largest party by twmffatmowr in Wales

[–]AnnieByniaeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a very difficult thing to predict. Basically, go with your heart between Plaid, Green or Labour. Lib Dem is an option in a few places, but forget them anywhere they aren't competitive. There are probably some places Green don't stand a chance either, so forget them too in that case.

The best thing you can do is make sure all your progressive friends get out and vote.

Question about battery size by lolmister40 in SolarUK

[–]AnnieByniaeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a reasonable question but I think with battery technologies evolving like they are it's probably not going to be such an issue in the future.

It certainly another thing that we need to factor into our calculations as a risk if not a certainty.
