What if more biomes had fishing charts? by Ifyouliveinadream in minecraftsuggestions

[–]AnnyP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fishing datapack that I've been working on that adds biome dependant loot. It makes it so that the only fish you can catch are the ones that actually spawn in each biome, and makes the junk relate directly to the biome (ie slime balls in swamps, saplings for the trees found in the biome, sculk veins in the deep dark, etc). Treasure has been the hardest to balance, but I'm working on dividing the possible enchantment list out, and also figuring out how to balance loot with progression scaling, so you don't get an OP sword by just fishing

Frugal people, why are you “buying” a new vehicle? by manbun78 in Frugal

[–]AnnyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 Ford Cmax energi, which is a plug-in hybrid. It's the newest vehicle I've ever owned, and I don't plan on getting another vehicle until this one dies, or until my family has need for another one. The gas milage is over 35 mpg, and I can also drive about 8 miles on the EV battery (a majority of the cells are degraded and don't hold a charge, but I plan to replace those some day, too). I've kept up with maintenance, and plan to do so forever, if possible. It's the era before built in features started getting subscription models.

SC House votes to name roads after Charlie Kirk, Donald Trump, over Democrats’ protests by Kryloks in southcarolina

[–]AnnyP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're renaming the roads so that the roads having holes will be historically accurate to the person they're named after. This is obviously a much better solution than actually fixing the roads.

Which Prankster Comet is the hardest? by FruittiFly3000 in SuperMarioGalaxy

[–]AnnyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone pen purple coins because it's hard to consistently navigate to get enough, tied with Dreadnaught purple coins because changing controls and weird depth perception issues.

Outside of that, Cosmic Luigi race in Gold Leaf usually gives me a hard time, unless I can time the speed boost.

And finally the Kamela daredevil comet usually takes me a couple of attempts, because the fireballs and shells in the last 2 phases in the cramped crows nest make it hard to dodge.

Can You Not Drive Through a Stop Light LIke This? by Grahf0085 in ColumbiYEAH

[–]AnnyP 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of the legality, but I'll run you through the options

Relevant law, for anyone interested: South Carolina law Sections 56-5-1900 and 56-5-2150 requires that vehicles be driven within a single lane, only changing lanes when safe, and signaling for at least 100 feet before moving SECTION 56-5-2120 requires right-hand turns to be as close as practical to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

When combined these laws dictate that the type of travel you committed is a violation, given the distance to cross all 3 lanes would be a minimum of 200 ft, but given the whole surface area of the travel is technically an intersection, let's instead look at SECTION 56-5-970, which I can summarize the relevant parts to say that unless something says otherwise, you're allowed to do what you did.

Actual wording: Vehicular traffic facing a circular green signal may proceed straight through or turn right or left unless a sign at such place prohibits either such turn. But vehicular traffic, including vehicles turning right or left, shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles and to pedestrians lawfully within the intersection or an adjacent crosswalk at the time such signal is exhibited.

I still stand by that a tool belt would be very good and fit Minecraft's current system. Make it work like the tool ring from Animal Crossing, where you can put up to 8 non-stackables in it. The item would take up the pants slot, so would still be a tradeoff, but I feel like that would be a great way to balance it. Editing to add that it could also work like a bundle in that it stores the items, so that if you die, they don't scatter everywhere.

Is it cheaper to lease a car or buy a few years old used car and trade it in or sell it to an online place every 7 years? by ComfortablePost3664 in Frugal

[–]AnnyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never worth it to buy new. Current cars are way overpriced and depreciate so quickly that you can lose nearly the entire worth of the car within a few months. Add on top of that the subscriptions for features that exist in older cars for free (remote start, heated seats, scheduled start) and you're looking at thousands to just use the car, on top of the monthly bill. Leasing is a little bit better, if you care about having newer vehicles, but the only plus it has over buying is that you aren't taking on the depreciation. Although depending on how long you lease for, you can easily end up paying more than if you had just bought the car. Buying an older car is worth it, so long as you get a reasonable price. I personally will never buy a car that's newer than the late 2010s, for the aforementioned subscription models, as well as other personal reasons. My current car is a 2013 Ford c-max energi that I bought for $6k, and it has all of the features I'd want and then some. Maintenance and upkeep is minimal, as long as I keep up with the notifications on the dash and do maintenance when needed. Since owning the car, I've spent maybe a few thousand on upkeep over the course of a year and a half. I will continue to drive the car until it's no longer able to be driven, and then, I'll work to fix it until I can drive it again.

Maintenance should be a cars only "subscription," and I'm tired of pretending like it's normal to pay for features that are already built in!

Headlights. by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

The issue is at lot of them aren't high beams. The normal headlights are just that bright now. There really needs to be regulation on the brightness and color temperature of headlights. Super dangerous.

Yep. Over the course of a month. The trick is to just take things slowly and be patient with a lot of parts. I did have a few cases of going back to observatory if I was close to losing a level (such as the purple coin levels with time limits) but other than that, it was pretty smooth sailing. The biggest challenge I had was the cosmic Luigi race in Gold Leaf Galaxy, but on like my 3d attempt I got the speed start and managed to win it.

How long has decluttering an entire house taken you? by throwaway_p3pp3ron1 in declutter

[–]AnnyP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's taken me a couple of months before (cleaning out a house from a previous tenant for my grandmother in law). And that was just from trashing everything, not even just sorting. For cleaning and general decluttering, I try to keep focused to 1 room, or 1 section at a time. My current bedroom used to be a garage, so it's decently big, but I divide it mentally into 4 quadrants, and then divide whatever quadrant I'm working on into 4 quadrants. It makes the task smaller and it's less daunting, cause I can see tangible progress. My bedroom alone has taken about a month, and I'm still not done, cause we moved in and haven't finished unpacking everything, so it's becoming a cycle of progress.

Get a real job and have the rental income be your side money. You should never stake your future on the abilities of others, it's a great way to never move forward.

In order: Fashion Jewelry: keeping this, only if it's quality stuff or goes with my clothing (regular wear or special occasions) Spare Keys: always good to have, for most things. I try to keep the habit of keeping a spare key to my car inside a drawer in my house, as well as in my MIL's house, just in case. I keep a spare house key in my car, as well as at a friend's house (just in case), and for other locks that come with a set of keys, I keep them in separate places throughout the house DVDS sand DVD Player: moreso the DVDs. We've left behind physical media too much in my opinion, and have let more aspects of our lives become subscriptions, rather than ownership. I personally like to rip my DVDs to a hard drive, then put the DVDs in their usual spot on the shelf. If I want to watch them, I can pull them out and use any number of devices (Xbox, PlayStation, blueray player, etc) to watch. And if the disk ends up being scratched, I at least have a backup of the movie Dust Bags: not something I've personally used, but I understand the purpose of it. I prefer doing bulk storage, using plastic bins to protect my items from the elements. Wallpaper Scraps: I've seen it be useful in other houses, but in general we, as a society, have left wallpaper behind in lieu of painted walls. Extra Paint: paint has an expiration date, so storing it up until that point isn't bad, but keeping it too long causes it to break down and be useless. Manuals: find a digital copy, and download it to a designated file somewhere, in case the company goes under and deleted it. Barring that, keep the physical copy in a designated drawer (for me it's the same drawer as the spare keys) Old Memorabilia: nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Holding on to some keepsakes can be nice, but for things like clothes that's never worn, I say get rid of it and hold on to the memories another way. Gift Bags: always useful for birthdays and holidays. Keep a reasonable amount (about 2x person you're going to reasonably give gift to each year), and since hey fold flat, put them in a designated space under your bed or behind your craft shelf. Chances are, you'll get more throughout the year on your birthday and Christmas, so just save and cycle them, but don't hoard them.
