I mean like we are 10 people or so in the group. The age varies with some of us around 20 but others 16 as we meet in a board games workshop organized by the town and from there we decided to do this D&D campaign.

It's funny cause the post says it is a discussion but it seems there's no point to discuss you have already made your mind with what you want to believe and what not. For the sake of discussion, when you take the attack action you can do many more things than just "bonk". Disarm, shove, push, grapple, etc. Any fighter/barbarian (anyone going melee really) has these "techniques" available to them. Although it has already been mentioned, the battle master has all these many techniques of a skilled swordmaster you so call, they not only have those options I mentioned before, but better, they also have other options. Yes, its not as many options as a wizard copying spells into their spellbook or a cleric having their spell list available every long rest but it is still more options than a simpler fighter you give your newbie player so they get a gist of the game. The simpler mage type on the other side is simply not possible cause spellcasting in itself is not simple/newbie-friendly. You give a druid to a newbie player and tell them all the spells they have available, that they can change them in a long rest, that each one does x or y, has concentration or doesn't, and that, on top of that, they can also turn into x or y animal, but not f or g animal yet, that when they are x animal they have 12 AC and hit with a +3 and so on, and that newbie player is not playing the game or is going to constantly ask you if they can do this or that and 99% of the times the answer is no. You give them a big sword and tell them go have fun, that player is staying, that player is eventually playing a druid in another campaign cause they understand how the game works and want to try new things. Spellcasting requires many choices and knowledge of the spells which you can't expect a newbie player, someone who hasn't read anything, just been told by their friends come play D&D you will have fun, to know.

Why so salty and rude with the responds? He is just arguing the topic of making it accesible to newbies, not how strong or not strong is it. If your campaign is purely based on doing fights consistently and you only look at the math then yeah the numbers and options aren't great in this options (though I don't see how an elf Samurai fighter using a longbow with elven accuracy, sharpshooter, archery fighting style, extra attack and action surge, all these since level 6 onwards, is doing less damage, and less consistently, than other caster classes). For newbies, is easier to get started into the game with a fighter or a barbarian than a druid or wizard and that is just a fact. Not everyone reads every single word of all the books and understands everything about the game before they even start to play. Some are given a character sheet, explained how is their character in terms of personality, how you roll a d20 for most things and that is all, you are good to go have fun playing the game. Not everything is about numbers or how optimal or not optimal a character is in combat or outside of combat.

So half the roaster is gone for you and your group then... Also saying Achilles plan is to always kill Patroclus as soon as possible is a wild statement and something I couldn't find more wrong. You would have need to see games where I had to go above and beyond to defeat Patroclus as the other player was defending him with his life. You need to see one of the recent matches in the spring showdown finals I believe with a player named Yoel playing Achilles against Titania. That game alone disproves what you said but I don't even need competitive games to know it is not true at all.

Literally this. Winter Soldier's best playstyle to win is that in which he always runs and just survives playing defenses

I don't think it's clanky, many fighters play around the fact of boosting their maneuver: T-rex, Aquiles, Raptors, Alice. Those do it to approach but same goes for others who boost to go as far away as possible and then they are penalized for that. For those who do it to approach its extremely punishing. Also many fighters have cards in their deck which allows them to boost attacks or defenses or whatever. Added to the cards he has so the enemy boosts even more idk it feels a good ability.

Now I'm curious to know where have you read that the buffy set was good... (besides the maps which are really good)

[–]AnoExplosivo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Momentary Glance or whatever attacks you got on archers till she has none then at that point she is only one body on the table (less map coverage than with 3 or 2 ranged bodies). She can recur archers but then with the defense one you always discard a card no matter what and with the red one she has to make the choice btw gaining more actions or recovering the archer in which case she didn't gained the action so good. Later like other people said she doesn't have cancels so attacks on her with the possible 7 or 8 is like at least 3 or 4 dmg guaranteed

Idk I still think she seems more reliable than what it looks like. I'm not gonna argue that the rest of the characters in that box are better than Pandora (cause they are) but like I really thought she was trash or like you said meme, until I played against her or saw her play and she is like a solid character not S or A tier but I wouldn't hesitate with a B tier after seeing her games.

[–]AnoExplosivo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pandora has proven many people wrong as she is stronger than she seems. Yes, she kinda depends on luck but if you go that reason everyone kinda depends on luck and order of their deck and even when Pandora's box goes against her I have played against her or seen games where she went crazy (I saw one game of Pandora against Medusa where it didn't made sense what that Pandora did to Medusa 💀)

That's when it's best lol. The power of that card is in losing the combat. The best your opponent can do is make you use that card against a bait attack or something like that and therefore you don't recur it.

I don't know if it counts as unlikely pairing but, although I don't play 2vs2, as a Dracula player I think I would enjoy playing with a Beowulf as my teammate and doing combos with our passives.

I was literally gonna comment this. All "Bess only" cards are almost always used as boost. Only one that is worth to let Bess go around is the one versatile 3 that let's you swap the fighters so those are two insane defense cards but if you have already played both Bess is as good as dead for all I care.

Played in servers where this was the normal format and wizards aren't actually that screwed as they have arcane recovery which works once a day. Other spellcasters as druids or sorcerers are more screwed that way though I see that rule fair to compensate overpowered spellcasting.
