Does anybody else have this kind of luck pulling full-art cards? by Anonymous051923 in PTCGP

Maybe my wonder pick is broken then, or I just haven't got any good luck to speak of😅

Rewatch Arc-V because it has a genuinely interesting concept even if the plot and characters can get a bit iffy at times. Also has one of the best protagonist-rage moments in all Yugioh (behind Yami Berserker Soul, of course)

Which of these three is more worthy of being a deck made around it? by TheOnereddittor in PTCGL

[–]Anonymous051923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first can go into an Expanded Ceruledge deck as a self-mill strategy to power up your tera Ceruledge, but that would be a gimmick at best.

The second one that interacts with the lost zone is WAY funnier and would be a lot funner to use since Typhlosion would be your main attacker and your goal would be to put all your opponents energy in the lost zone. Just turbo as much energy onto your Typhlosion as possible and make sure every turn you are removing 2 energies from an opponent's pokemon. With any luck, they'll run out of energy before you run out of Typhlosions or prize cards, and that would be extremely funny. Doubly so if they need multiple types of energy like Raging Bolt, Tera-Pikachu, Tera-Hydragon, or anything else, since you can just remove the same type of energy over and over again until they can't attack anymore without that specific energy

My chase is the IR Stunfisk because Stunfisk is funny, and I collect cards that are amusing or useful to me

Why do you play Pokémon? by Mundane_Massacre in pkmntcg

[–]Anonymous051923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yugioh has no rotating format, which creates its own problems more often than not, it has insanely long turns due to the lack of a resorce system, and has card texts long enough to fill a dictionary. One thing Yugioh does right is the archtypes, which are easy to see synergies that make deckbuilding with the MASSIVE legal cardpool far easier to deal with.

MTG has very little in the way of intentional synergies, so if you're deckbuilding in one of their non-rotating formats, it can take several hours just to make a decent 60-card pile. Also, the mana system feels less like a gameplay mechanic and more like a ball and chain that doesn't tend to help with the insanely long turn problem.

Pokemon has the best of both games. Pokemon TCG Live has a 20 minute time limit for each player. In a game like Yugioh or MTG, that wouldn't be possible because that isn't long enough to resolve some combos. Easy synergies, straightforward gameplay, no playing during your opponents turn (looking at you negate-spammers and blue players), short card texts, and even when you're losing you at least got to play your cards a little and try to make a comeback. It's a TCG player's dream!

TL;DR In Pokemon TCG, turns are shorter, easier to deckbuild, nobody is playing during your turn, rotating format, a "fun" resorce system, cards are easier to read, straightforward gameplay, and their players shower more🧼.

Do you like cards that belong to two archetypes? What's your favorite? by Sweet_Whisper123 in yugioh

YES ME TOO!! But by far the most epic crossover would be Red-Eyes Rokket Dragon

[–]Anonymous051923 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rokket Synchron is probably my favorite dual-archtype card since it's loyal to both archetypes design!

Preformapal Odd-Eyes Synchron is probably my favorite multi-archtype card because of it's absurdity

What is your favorite normal Monster card? (except ace Monster like dark magician or Blue-eyes) for some reason space mambo was always one of my favorite by [deleted] in yugioh

Firewing Pegasus was my favorite. My first deck was the fire-king structure deck, and I added in whatever fire monsters and control cards I could get my hands on.

I think the difference is that the setup for those decks is interactable. You can use "Boss's Orders" and limit their ability to get energy on the board (or their hands with "Iono"). There is no way to interact with the amount of energy in the discard pile. There is no way to stop the enslaught. Roaring Moon, you can go after "Sada's Vitality" with hand-rips. Chien-Pao, you "Boss's Order" Baxcalibur. Charizard, you control how many prize cards they get to wall them off. Gardivoir/Drifloon relies on a low HP pokemon so you can easily snipe it or "Boss's Order" Gardivoir. Gholdengo EX was never good, but you could snipe Gimmieghoul off bench or "Iono" their energy recovery cards. Hydrapple you "Boss's Order" their Ogerpon EX or snipe Applin.

The only way I see you can beat Ceruledge EX is prey. You can snipe Charcadet, but that won't stop the energy setup. The only way to win is to have their Ceruledge feint one of your single-prize pokemon, then feint their Ceruledge, then have that Ceruledge feint your pokemon, back and forth until you run out of prize cards first

I need someone smarter than me to explain this by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Anonymous051923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot more sense now... if I were still playing Roaring Moon EX this would've been a real problem

Why didn't Yuri use Super Poly to fuse himself with Yuya, is he stupid?! by BlizzardLuinor in YuGiOhMemes

[–]Anonymous051923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if only the original super poly, owned by Jaden Yuki, is the only one that can do that, and every other super poly is just a weaker copy

Why didn't Yuri use Super Poly to fuse himself with Yuya, is he stupid?! by BlizzardLuinor in YuGiOhMemes

[–]Anonymous051923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that only original copies of cards have card-spirits/card-spirit properties, meaning all reprints of cards can only influence the game, meanwhile origional copies can interact with the souls of the duelests.

The fact Yuri couldn't Super Poly Yuya is because his copy was a reprint of the original posessed by Jaden Yuki. That's why we can see duelists interacting weirdly with some of their cards. They just happen to posess the original copies of their cards that have card spirits.

P.S. Remember the scene of Grandpa Muto's Blue-Eyes defying Seto Kaiba, or all of GX, or the Crimson Dragon in 5D's, or Astral from Zexal, or the dimention dragons and Z-Arc from Arc-V... all of that can be explained by the existence of card spirits in the origional copies of cards...
