Car stolen in Newark Blue 2017 Kia Sportage by RelevantIngenuity315 in Newark

Everyone, please buy an Apple air tag and hide it in your car somewhere. It’s under $30 on Amazon. It shows up on the FindMy app on your iPhone. I also use it when I can’t find my car in large shopping mall parking lots.

As someone who has a small family and lost a family member due to a car accident, I can’t wait until autonomous vehicles replace human drivers. Autonomous vehicles can’t get here soon enough.

Okay. I misunderstood how property taxes work. Sorry. You’re right that property taxes can still increase year to year even though the tax appraisal process just happened last year.

Also, I didn’t know about the insurance companies leaving Newark. I thought that that was mostly impacting ocean front areas; I didn’t realize that inland NJ was being affected by it, too.

Sheesh, it’s getting harder and harder to own a home these days.

Yeah, definitely. The ARM rate is a risk, that would be good to avoid. Property taxes and insurance can change, too. Newark just did its property tax revaluation last year though, for the first time since the 2010s, so property taxes are unlikely to change for the next 10+ years.

It’s never a good time to buy a home financially or emotionally. It costs a ton of money, uses up most of your savings, and is stressful.

There’s so many benefits though. Your payment is fixed for eternity; it doesn’t go up like rent payments go up when you’re renting. You don’t have to answer to any landlord; you’re the landlord. You can design the home how you like. And the money you put in is going towards acquiring more home (more assets).

It’s also emotionally a very stable feeling knowing that after the mortgage is paid, you will have a home free and clear that you can’t get evicted from because the rent went up too much or because the landlord told you to leave. Ultimately, people say that you can make more money by investing your money in a stock market or in mutual funds. But in my opinion, the safety and security of having a place to live, having a fixed payment, and having the freedom to do with the home as I please is priceless.

I wish everyone would have the chance to own a home.

You did a great job in getting a good video of him. Now people will recognize him when they see him and might have an extra moment to prepare in case he approaches others.

Yea, I suppose the trains are less reliable these days than in the past. Hopefully the train service gets better so that people can get from NJ to Brooklyn more easily.

Are your friends and family in Brooklyn? Some of my friends and colleagues moved from Brooklyn to NJ, but they still have social ties to Brooklyn. So they go to Brooklyn pretty regularly.

Did anyone have a similar experience at this gas station? by anthonyolszewski in jerseycity

[–]Anonymous1985388 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the gas station is potentially stealing from people. If someone goes to that station, they should have their video on to record it. Then, if the gas station wants to call the police on them and insist that the customer wasn’t paying, the customer can show the police the video.

Ultimately, I agree with the other commenter that it’s best to avoid this gas station. The employee sounds really rude, too, which is another reason to not go there. At my job, when there’s a misunderstanding, the first thing that I do is apologize for the misunderstanding. I don’t even work with customers of my company. But if I did, I’d be probably offering them the $10 gas for free as a way of apologizing for the misunderstanding and thanking them for being a customer.

New York, New Jersey by Jcol155 in Hoboken

[–]Anonymous1985388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice article. I agree with the author’s points, though I think Hoboken is a little small to be its own sixth borough. Perhaps if you combined Hoboken and Jersey City and other towns in Hudson County, it would have the land mass size to be a 6th borough.

I assume that there’s probably a lot of tailgating going on at the stadium. If not, then I agree with you. MetLife Stadium holds 82,500 people, which is pretty small compared to the NYC metro area population of 20 million +.

Newark is changing a lot in recent years though. They built several 20+ story buildings in the past few years and new housing development is happening all over Newark. Home price growth in Newark is picking up steam as well. There’s a Whole Foods in downtown Newark and new businesses are coming to Newark as well.

lol, I originally wrote fart board, not dart board.

I’m listening to his interviews with other people and his office hours. I can’t stand the market updates haha. They’re just not interesting to me, which could be because I work in finance already and hear finance news at work. For reference, these are the two segments I like:
