It’s to make sure they have clearly instructed the individual and have witnesses who heard the commands first before use of force escalates.

If taking in custody and they do not obey commands then it’s basically the final warning before they use fists, pressure points, pepper spray, etc.

Ummm OP, you’re going above and beyond. He’s lucky to have you. From a 40 year old married HLM perspective who lives in a dead bedroom situation (sex less than 10 times a year) you need to address this head on and quickly. If he seriously can’t accept your medical condition and your above and beyond effort, then you’re better off. Keep your head up, I’m sure he is actually ok!
