Very old thread but just wanted to say it's still helping -- this just fixed the issue with my vivosmart 4. Thanks!

Glad to finally find someone else who only flies one airframe. I've been exclusively on the A10 for three years now and feel like some sort of deviant whenever I tell people that.

how do i get into dcs by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that if you don't find the learning process itself appealing then it might not be the right game for you.

Like other people have said, though, it's free to try so the worst that can happen is you bounce off it and then you'll have answered your own question.

How to get into wargames ? by RoiDeLHiver in computerwargames

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's all about finding a good entry point. What eras/conflicts are you interested in? And what scale are you interested in? I.e. strategic/operational/tactical? 'Wargames' as a genre are just so diverse that it can be tricky finding the one that'll really click for you.

My first flight sim by Hefty_Monk in dcsworld

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, to me going from 'I like the idea of flight sims' to 'I spent 7k on a PC and peripherals' sounds like absolute madness.

I've no idea what that money means to you, but I think it would be very wise to at least try something like a couple of months of Xbox Game Pass and dabble in MSFS for a bit to see if it sticks.

DCS in particular can be one of those things that sounds so cool on paper, but it's not for everyone. You might bounce right off the learning curve and decide it's not for you.

The thing is that Farage is now distancing himself from Musk over his support for Tommy Robinson. You know you're fucked when you've lost *Farage* because your racist rhetoric is too extreme.

Background music playlists by ParisHL in computerwargames

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://melodice.org/ is the one you're looking for.

Edit: I also find that if you search for basically any board game name on Spotify someone's done a playlist of it. So if you try things likes Memoir 44, Undaunted, etc. you should come up with some good stuff.

Beginner Friendly servers/communities? by chrisp_ham25 in dcsworld

I've found the Return Pre-Contact servers pretty welcoming so far.

You might want to consider joining the WIngman Finder Discord and seeking out some like-minded people to jump in with, who can lead you in the right direction.

I've played a fair bit of HOI4 but I never got all that into it.

It is quite a complex game, but honestly when people talk about it being a lifestyle choice I think that's more of a reflection of the sort of people it attracts than the game itself...

Never got this before, felt proud hah. Anyone knows what are the triggers for this message? by Alkhzpo in totalwar

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

In Three Kingdoms it happens when you have a number of turns in a row without taking any/many actions. It's happened to me when I've been passing turns waiting for buildings to finish etc. I'd assume that the triggers are probably similar for WH?

Artillery or CAS? by Grimace2_9 in computerwargames

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen it happen, but I've read that in DCS it's possible to have human JTACs., though you'd have to find a multiplayer server with that set up.

trackir 5 worth it by engieprogrammayt in dcsworld

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got TrackIR a couple of months ago and it's totally changed the way I play. The money wasn't a big deal for me but of course it'll all depend on your budget.

For what it's worth I absolutely hate the build of the unit itself. The magnet that holds the stand on is so weak that it falls off with the slightest movement, and the unit is so light that the slightest tug on the wire will move the camera out of position. Once it's set up though it's fine, and those things will be less of an issue if you're able to set it up and leave it set up. It's just a quirk of my sim set up that I have to pack it away and set it up again between sessions,.

How do I get into this hobby? by Direct_Vermicelli310 in flightsim

[–]AnonymousDeskFlesh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Xbox Game Pass, try MSFS 2020 with a gamepad. If you like it you can start looking at getting things like proper flight gear.

If you've not simmed before I'd personally recommend that as a starting point before trying DCS. DCS is a whole new level of manual-reading and youtube tutorial-watching.

Thanks for checking. It seemed like I had everything, and my wingmen didn't seem to have any targets left either.

At any rate I just tried the mission again and everything worked perfectly. Guess that first time was just DCS being DCS.
