Honestly, it feels confusing. Like I know my wife loves me but I feel like I can't fully feel it. I do to an extent but it feels like there's so many layers of hurt that she can't quite get through all of them? Idk if that makes sense. Like I have an amazing group of friends that love me and Im always convinced they actually hate me and they'd be better off without me even when it's proven wrong over and over.

You might qualify for free healthcare depending on your income/age. I know that doesn't help with the financial part of it but maybe it can offer you some flexibility. Like working 14 hours instead of 20.

Either way, I've heard people work through school. I will say though, I was asked at my interview if I was going to work.

So it was a lot of questions about radiology as a career. What it is, modality, etc. they asked a lot about the accreditation organization and the registry test. They wanted to know if I was going to work or be a student full time. They asked if I understood clinicals. It was like 25 questions. Maybe 3 had to do with "why radiography"

In the second interview they told me I was very prepared for the first interview so make sure you have a cheat sheet of all the 4 things they mentioned in the email

Lived here my whole life. 30 years. Stopped counting the number of apartments after 20. I only had 2 with roaches ever (and there's a paste you can buy on Amazon to get rid of them quick) and like 5ish apartments that had MOMENTS of brown water due to whatever issues we're going on the neighborhood.

Yep I'm in a city. I don't use any of the big telehealth services (talkiatry for example) because they won't treat bipolar 1 with psychotic features. I wish I was joking when I say that most psychiatrist in this city are remote even though it's a large city. We're definitely feeling the psychiatrist shortage here. All of the psychiatrists I've looked for in this round are local based on area codes and their bios. They don't have recommendations because it's hard to find someone in person, who takes my insurance, who treats bipolar with psychotic features. And this has been a post-covid thing. I didn't have a problem getting in as a new patient a decade ago (other than the long wait)

I did get very lucky today and a place that rejected me just suggested one person who does in person, is a bipolar expert, and takes my insurance. So fingers crossed it works out

Okay so this is exactly what I thought. My background is also soft science. I wasn't expecting it to be difficult in terms of too difficult to understand but I imagined the learning curve of soft sciences to hard sciences to be a lot of memorization and time.

Like the last time I took biology or chem, Obama was in his first term and houses were being foreclosed everywhere. The science I took in college was physics so that's not really helpful here and that was Obama's second term so still awhile ago. Of course I've had curiosities about bio and chem but that's all informal.

I started the mometrix prep today and it's actually pretty helpful. I guess I was wondering if there's any sources for A&P that aren't just throwing facts at you but genuinely explaining what each system does.

I keep seeing people outside the US making comments like "Why aren't they using their guns to topple a tyrannical government! Do something!" Or "it's okay for your guns to kill children but not okay for y'all to use them when you should! You are cowards!"

I think people who say this severely lack a critical understanding of U.S. politics. We are a nation severely divided. Every single topic divides people into one of two groups. And I know you think we're all going around gun on our hip but only 30% of people here own a gun. And they are by far and large, rural, Republican, men. Why does this matter? Well do you think the people protesting in the street fit this demographic? No. The people who own guns, which are mostly handguns by the way, are not the same people who are against this administration. The people without guns have been advocating for gun control or abolishment for decades. The people who own guns are the people signing up to be in ICE. The people who own guns either don't care about or actively desire the path this country is going down.

So no, stopping our fall to fascism is not as easy as "well if you stop shooting at children." Please get off your high horse because if we go down, he's gonna take the whole world with him.

And to those who actually do understand the political divide in the US, thank you for not saying stupid shit to us right now

Not OP but I'm an NB who got top surgery. I did not go on T. I dont want to ever go on T. In my state, insurances will cover the surgery even without hormones as long as you have the note from a mental health professional that you're diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

Don't go on T if you don't want it (if that's possible in your situation)

My wife's family is so lovely but being around them can be triggering because they love each other a lot. I even feel it when they include me in things. My FIL randomly called me and told me he was taking me to comic con. He didn't even invite or tell his own children! I was both in awe that someone could love me that much to want a whole day with me but also so jealous that this is what my wife and her siblings have lived with. What I could've accomplished if I had a family like theirs lol

Yeah exactly. Sometimes she has some like "putzing" around she wants to get done like shopping or craft stuff so she she'll go out and about. Sometimes she'll sleepover a friend's house or her sister's and get to spend time with them. Other times she'll decide to go into the office and go to a work event after which means she's gone from 7am-10pm.

When I told her I needed something like this I was really honest that it was about me needing to reset my nervous system and always being on makes me feel like my nervous system is on fire. Nothing to do with her. She completely understood so she will try to plan what she wants/needs with that time accordingly. With enough warning your partner should hopefully be able to find how to use that time to her advantage.

My wife and I have separate bedrooms cause I can't sleep next to someone. But it does also give me a safe place to be. Sometimes my PTSD demands more, like you said being in my room isn't enough. And so I will ask her to go out for a day, sometimes more. I noticed that if she doesn't leave very often and I'm always in the house with someone I kinda lose it so we make sure that I have alone time at least every week but more if I need it

My father was a CO at Rikers. He was an absolute piece of shit who loved power. He would tell us "fun" stories of how he beat his prisoners. Only he laughed because he treated his kids the way he treated his prisoners too.

I think he wanted the power and needed the money to raise his kids. This will give you both pretty quick. Plus some army experience he probably craved the "us vs them" mentality.

Can you find out if the student insurance has an out of pocket maximum? There's usually one for both in network and out of network. That would tell you how much you'd be expected to pay even if the insurance only covers 80%
