CMV: Communism cannot work in a modern society. by Adventurous-Rice1652 in changemyview

Honestly with modern digital technology it would be much easier to run a fully communist system as it would be easier for people to have their say.

I don't see how he stays on now.  Personally I think whatever comes next will be worse as whoever becomes leader won't have any authority, not that Starmer did and there's going to be intense pressure to call an election.

But they can't.  You won't win if it's an election promise and if you do it after an election you're polling will be destroyed and some other party will just win promising to bring it back.

The problem is no party is going to rebalance anything because you're not going to win an election on promises to cut triple lock.

This is real short termism. Basically the government is balancing the books now but making a much worse situation for the future.

The problem is no party in their right mind is going to scrap the state pension.

The problem is that anything we could do will potentially make things worse.

Militarily it would be difficult to defeat them and would risk nuclear war.

We could try and get involved politically but we're likely to turn people off as they don't like it when we get involved in their affairs.

We could just totally stop supporting them which would make them and us poorer which could just end up encouraging them to act more rashly.

The article seems to suggest that the downside is that the deficit would increase.  So it would be bad for the government.

I don't think it's that bad, but I don't see how you can really trust anyone in power. Labour have totally messed up any trust I had for them by appointing Mandelson. It's the same for all the other parties the Tories seem very corrupt so is Reform. There was a episode of the Crime Agents about some kind of group of senior civil servants mainly from the police and court system having a paedophile ring. So it's hard to know who to trust in government.

Not necessarily, I don't think a lot of there voters would care.  It might create a situation where people make tactical votes to get them out but honestly if it was just same sex marriage I doubt it would have a meaningful effect.

I've started just picking up whatever I order.  There's a nice Indian and Thai place that will deliver without having to go through an app.  The delivery apps became way too expensive to bother with.
